Part 2 Metal Edition

Neurosis

Back when i was about 15 or 16 i had a few pen pals from England all ladies of course because i was all about the ladies so much so i needed pen pals in order to be able to talk to them . Anyway we would exchange mix tapes of metal band we were into and introduce each other to new bands. On one of these mix tapes one song reached out and grabbed me by the throat and would not let go there were no song titles with the mix tape only band names. Neurosis manage to blend the most beautiful music and sounds with the most bone crushing and chaotic sounds. They have the sort of sound that both loves you and hates you it batters you but holds you and comforts you to keep you from harm. Seeing them live is an amazing experience its a feast of both sight and sound i just stood there motionless in awe of how amazing these guys were.

Darkthrone
As you all may have noticed i have a little soft spot for Black Metal . Of all the BM band i love by far my all time favourite is Darkthrone. Their music has changed so many times over the years starting out as a Death Metal band with Soulside Journey to becoming a BM band with A Blaze In The Nothern Sky to more a BM Crust Punk band with the release of F.O.A.D and a Classic Metal band with the latest release The Underground Resistance. Many see these changes as selling out but for me its the band staying true to what they believe and who they are as individuals. They are just two fun time metal heads drinking beers and playing some of the best rawest metal out there. Its there attitude as much as there music that makes me love them as much as i do.

The two sides of Darkthrone fun and serious
This song is the perfect combination of early Darkthrone and the Darkthrone of today.

My Dying Bride
I have such an emotional attachment to this band. There are times in everyones lives when music helps pull them through hard times well for me it was the music of My Dying Bride and i will be forever greatful to them for that. They just blend beauty and sorrow in a really uplifting way. Their music can be so heart breaking and inspirational. Amazing.

Primordial
Mixing Black Metal , Folk and Traditional Irish music to create very powerful and very special. Each time i listen to an album i feel like im transported back hundreds of years setting off into battle or tilling the land . Some songs feel like a battle cry and others mourn the loss of fallen brothers and sisters. Primordial are like many of the bands on my list its something deeper than just music they move you and inspire you to be more creative in your own life.

Part 3 ( The Final Chapter ) to follow.

I'm pretty sure that Taylor Swift's name is readable on all her CDs.
