Default Driving Music

I don't know about anyone else but I like to listen to music when I drive (which is frequently). Whilst this can range from all sorts of things, there are certain tracks, which for want of a better term, just get the adrenaline going and are the epitome of great driving music.

Here are a few favourites:

Anyone else have any favourite driving music?

Another great one - perfect for late-night motorway driving:

Like you i drive a lot. Although not as greater distances as i used to.

As you may have learned from that other thread where i post C-90 cassette track listing that is my method of in car audio. Some people (That Vic Rondaline character mainly) think it amusing but i still enjoy listening to my home made mix tapes even if i'm now too lazy to create them all that often.

I've just been out to the car for the box of the cassette currently in the player and offer you these two tracks for the thread.

The Rolling Stones - Love Is Strong

I love the laid back groove and Jagger's whispery vocal. Not all driving songs have to be 100mph.

Rogue Traders - Voodoo Child

A great thumping baseline. Masterful.

This has long been a personal favourite driving (fast) tune.

Ministry - Jesus Built My Hotrod

As has this...

Primal Scream - Miss Lucifer

And this.

The Sisters Of Mercy - Temple Of Love

I'm also a big fan of the mix tape (or in my case CD), although, like you, have been a little lax in creating any new ones lately and have mainly been sticking to full CD albums or my iPod instead.

Driving music that you'd probably expect from me.

Mötley Crüe - Kickstart My Heart

Judas Priest - Turbo Lover

Ratt - Nobody Rides For Free

The beauty is creating the tape, picking and choosing tracks.

I used to buy albums and on first listen think 'That's definitely one for the car'.

Yeah, me too.

Organising them in a way so they flowed together just right was an art in itself.

A bleedin' obvious driving song

Kiss - Detroit Rock City

And a chilled out night time drive from Great White that needs to be listened to in full for the song to flow properly. Snippets just don't work.

Great White - Hiway Nights
