I remember watching a lot of live shows of Front 242 on RTBF back then which got me hooked.

I'd love to see Front 242 live. I've seen (and heard) plenty of exerts from their live shows, and they look to be an incredible experience.

One of Belgium's finest exports.

In Belgium A Split Second started the "New Beat phenomenon" when dj's started playing the slowed down version of Flesh:

My old Favourites The Klinik still performing and going strong!
Btw they're one of most underground and dark Belgian EBM groups who seem to dislike performing (especially in Belgium).

Ah, I remember the New Beat craze well. They really tried to push it here for a while with various compilations. I was never a huge fan but this one was really good. It was really hard to track down a copy at the time as well.

New Beat was really strange as lots of styles were included and EBM people started to make more commercial records under aliases...

Another good one,I think it falls under EBM now but this used to be New Beat:

Love it, love it, love it.

It's serendipitous as just the other month I started up a new blog/podcast where I create mixtapes of 80s underground music and there's a fair share of EBM, Synthpop, Industrial, Goth, etc. on there.

http://c90sessions.blogspot.com/

I'm up to my 6th mixtape now and am going to compile side B this weekend.

Would be great if some of you give 'em a listen

I think Wes has enjoyed some of them.

Plotkin's just mastered my mate's bands album, actually he did their first too.

I love Harris in particular his Scorn output post 2000 - really murky and sparse hip hop with outrageous bass.

A band that hasn't been mentioned yet are SPK. probably best known sadly for their work after signing to EMI which was a bit of a sell-out really but there's also a film connection in Graeme Revell who has since gone on to be quite a major score composer.

From this..

to this...

Didn't Severed Heads - Dead Eyes Opened also go some way to informing EBM?
