Definitely, I expected a few "fans" who only came for AFD songs, but not 90% of the crowd!
My other half only knows the GnR stuff, so I've sorted her out with all his solo stuff so she at least knows a couple more on the night.
TBH, he could play One Direction songs all night and I wouldn't give a rats arse, it's Slash FFS

With one of the best rock singers around.

The crowd would probably know the One Direction songs.

When i saw Velvet Revolver a couple of times, the crowd seemed to be there for them and lapped up their material. The odd Guns and Pilots track naturally went down a storm but so did material like Loving the Alien.

I saw Velvet Revolver at Live8, but with such a diverse crowd there and not being that well known outside rock circles the atmosphere was shite, but the short set was fab. Slash's solo album stuff has been nothing short of brilliant, with catchy singles and electryfying solos and with Miles singing (what a voice) its an amazing collaboration. Slash will always be in the shadow of GNR, and Miles Alter Bridge, but heh rocks rock and if there was such a thing as god, id thank him for it! hope you enjoy Rik I know I will!

I'm hoping to snap up a pair of Foo Fighters tickets on Wednesday too, and I'm tempted to go watch Machine Head in Leeds next month

Seen the Foo's but never heard much Machine Head to be honest Rik, post a vid if you get chance, a reccomendation if you like!

I have Slash and Lynyrd Skynyrd tiks at the moment, that's it as I have had to cut back. Spent a fortune over the last couple of years on 'big bands' like f/mac, eagles, clapton, kate bush to name a few, so looking at attending smaller venues for a while, if anything comes up. I would love to see Slipknot with Korn, even though never been massive fans of either (though have enjoyed their singles) it seems like a good line up. I would go just see slipknots masks, always thought they looked eerie as hell!

Fantastic Rik, cheers, enjoyed that. The video to now we die is wicked, really engrossing and the might Iron Maiden track is one of my favourites and they do a solid job. The guitar sound is awesome, that really grabbed me, reminded me a bit Mercyful fates sound, but heh, your the expert!

I've been a Maiden fan since 1989 (hence my avatar), and HBTN is my favourite song by them, but as much as it pains me to write this, I prefer the Machine Head version to the original Maiden studio version (doesn't beat the Live After Death version mind!), as the original is a tad too slow.

N.B Notice the intro drum beat to Where Eagles Dare at the end of the Hallowed cover, nice touch I thought

I've always preferred their rip roarers - Aces High, The Trooper, Killers, Be Quick or Be Dead for example.

I've never got the love for Hallowed at all. That's just me though. I'm not suggesting it's a poor song or anything like that.
