That takes me back to 1993 when i saw Bon Jovi with the Manics as support *at Milton Keynes Bowl. *Billy Idol and Little Angels also supported. Bon Jovi back in the late 80's and 90's were quite simply the best live band about. Only Maiden could compare back then but i'd give the top billing to Jon and co seeing as they didn't use props and stage sets like Maiden did. Sadly it's not the same now. Although i've only got live dvd's of their shows this century they just don't feel quite right. Perhaps too polished, even before Richie left it felt this way. Maybe new guitarist Phil X can reinvigorate them, plus the fact that This House is Not For Sale is also their best record in decades might help. |

I saw Talisk last night at the Sage in Gateshead and they were fantastic. It's a band with three Scots who play the fiddle, concertina, and guitar at a furious pace at times, slowly and with more melody and others. It was amazing to watch and feel, and I had a great night. If you like folk music (they describe themselves as a "party band") with an upbeat tempo, then you could do worse than go and watch them on a UK tour. If you want an idea of what they were like or what to expect, these videos will give you an accurate impression:

There a lot of groups from the 70s and 80s I never disliked but never liked either and the specials are one of them same as UB 40 as well . Just looked at King George's hall website and tickets are £42 which tbh I think are a tadge dear . when there bands that are bigger and still around cost about the same or a little less . |
