Do you remember this from the heyday of power balladry and hair metal?

I'm pretty sure it has Black Velvet in it

Are songs about female masturbation really called power ballads?

Great album by the way.

That DiVinyls self titled album is also a great record.

I do remember it.

I didn't own it though.

I have the Alannah Myles album, both on vinyl and cd...and a Black Velvet 7" single in a black velvet sleeve. Brilliant song!

No More Heroes: 60 Punk & New Wave Anthems Box set.

Is the usual suspects of old school punk and new wave with a few late pub rock classics that got caught up in the furore of the day,Like I said nothing that we have not heard a million times before, but when all put together in one collection of 60 odd tracks,it makes for a great car listening or just back ground sound. Now there is plenty of these compilations around at the moment on the shelves of your local supermarket, this one at the moment is £5 at Sainsburys. As for the competition, well you will find a lot of these comps will have the same tracks, although some will have different versions, for example the recent compilation Lust For Life Box set has pretty much the same music but they use some rather dire recordings, for example the Jags song Back Of My Hand on the Lust For Life comp sounds like it was recorded in a a tin box, where as the No More Heroes version is as god intended.Of course you will always get the odd track that does not quite fit the bill, and you do wonder who puts these things together, and how much personnel taste was used or maybe they were able to buy the rights cheap and thought f^^k it we will stick this in.For instance as was pointed out on Amazon there is no Sex Pistols,no Clash and no early Elvis Costello,so possibly money may of been an issue or just down right stupidity,And although there are a few American artists on here there is no Dead Kennedys (they do appear on lust for life comp) or Black Flag two major breakthrough bands of the early 80's.Still you pays your money and takes your choice,no one said this was the definitive collection and for a fiver what more could you want

Thanks, i shall go forth and attempt to purchase one tomorrow.

Is that the good one? You compared two similar albums and one sounded better than the other.

Sometimes a compilation is far better than actual albums by a single artist.

I really do have a lack of comp albums.

It's odd as i always listen to comps on cassettes i made myself for the car.

Cassettes are still being made. Motorhead and Iron Maiden's last albums were definitely released on cassette.
