Picked this up this afternoon.
Was hoping for a return to form but a quick spin in the car has left me dubious...

I should have a look into that one.

It's all written by Jim Steinman and includes More which was originally recorded by Sisters of Mercy.

I'll have to get the Tesco exclusive as it has I'd Do Anything For Love as an orchestral version with the brilliant Imelda May.

I really liked his last two - Hang Cool Teddy Bear (I have a signed copy of that) and The Monster is Loose.

Then you might like this Dem. I've not had a thorough listen but i was hoping for morw traditional melodic Stienman stuff. It seems a bit too gimicky for my liking, a but like the last two which i weren't at all keen on.

Some of the stuff on the previous two albums, in particular The Monster is Loose was a lot heavier than Meat Loaf has ever been.

Been listening to the new one in the van today. Thing that stands out the most is how badly Meat Loafs vocals have sadly deteriorated. I'm guessing his recent health decline is to blame but he doesn't seem to have half the strength or range he did. Still its far from all bad, track no.2 the 11 minute, Going All The Way is Just the Start is brilliant almost classic stuff. Big bombastic rock opera, Jim Steinmans lyrics warbled out by Meat Loaf with sterling support from the returning Ellen Foley. There are other bits and pieces throughout the album though unfortunately there's also a lot of material rehashed from older albums so bit of a mixed bag. Still its better than The Monster is Loose.
