Anyhow, I got this yesterday. Less drone than his earlier stuff, more like late 60s, early 70s acid folk for want of a better tag. The hairy pic is of Mr Tucker playing live.

I'm waiting for the MTV Unplugged: Florence + the Machine CD/DVD to arrive. I haven't seen the show, but I saw them in concert last month and they were amazing – Florence Welch is a superb vocalist and stage presence, something which I hope transfers to the MTV Unplugged format.

Although strictly speaking not an album, thanks to the recommendation by Ricky Chad, I've just ordered Metallica's Beyond Magnetic EP – a CD containing tracks which didn't make the 'final cut' when they settled on the track listing for Death Magnetic.

Whats the latest Epica like Paul.

They are a band i have a couple of albums by, but never seem to have the killer songs Nightwish or Within Temptation come out with.

Paul 15th April 2012 12:59 PM

It's good. Very similar to a Dutch band called Orphanage in places. I stopped liking Within Temptation when decided to let other people write songs for them and turned into a poor Evanescence clone. If you like Nightwish, you should check out Amberian Dawn.;)

You're not into easy listening then, Paul?!

Paul 15th April 2012 09:54 PM

If it doesn't sound like world war three erupting from the speakers, then I'm not usually interested.

I got that impression from your list! I used to listen to nothing but heavy metal but, over the years, my CD collection has become increasingly varied so I'll listen to Guns N' Roses or Metallica then, as I'm doing at the moment, some Foo Fighters and then some Bad Religion, Green Day, Offspring or something like Ladyhawke, Imogen Heap or Zero 7.

The last one I ordered, but hasn't yet arrived, is Songbook by Chris Cornell.

Rassilon 9th May 2012 08:11 AM

Last album MASTODON - THE HUNTER
Probs the best metal band in the world right now and the album proves it. It has some wonderful moments and no two songs sound alike.
It reminds me of some Led Zeppelin's stuff.

Zebadiah Crowe - 'Grawl!' The Many Deaths Of The great beast

I've listened to this several times and it's a brilliant album – I wish there was an accompanying DVD of the gig.

whitechapel - whitechapel (band from my hometown in tennessee)

&

Rascal Flatts - Changed (my gf said she wanted it and I'm a fan so i went ahead and bought it on iTunes.) :decision:

It's okay... it's a compilation of previous EPs and apparently is the result of years worth of work. Aside from a couple of stand-out tracks (which had already been released), it's pretty much filler and was pretty disappointing.

Apparently Klayton recorded almost 300 tracks for this album, but only chose 17 for the finished product. Hopefully, this will mean we'll see releases of these that didn't quite make it in the near future.

Unfortunately, Klayton seems to have hit a bit of a low in his career, where he's more interested in remixing his earlier stuff than coming up with anything fresh.

His Circle of Dust and early Celldweller days were definitely the highlight of his career, for me. He has just released a live DVD/BD 'Live Upon a Blackstar' which looks quite good (there are some mash-ups of some of his tracks on there, and he also introduces a bit of his Circle of Dust era material into his newer Celldweller stuff). It's slightly embarrassing (and disappointing) to see that the crowd are mainly made up of 16 year old girls; but **** it, I still enjoy his music to an extent.
