I bought the Dire Straits box set today at Sainsbury's for £15.

The only songs by them i'd ever heard until last week were Money for Nothing, Walk of Life and Sultans of Swing but i listened to a few choice cuts and really liked Mark Knopfler's guitar sound so decided it was well worth a shot.

I actually just posted it in the What Have You Bought thread along with a couple of other things.

You must have recognised Romeo & Juliet from Empire Records, it's about the only Dire Straits song I enjoy though to be honest. I don't deny that Knopfler is a great guitarist though

It's a few years since i saw Empire Records last so that's my excuse and i'm sticking with it.

The funny thing is when it was first released the two single cuts didn't do anything at all for me. It didn't grab me one bit. It wasn't that i was off metal at that point because i bought the Saxon album that came out the same month.

Anyway i've listened to the first three songs on the cd four times now and love it so far.
