Your NIGHTCLUB Days Anyone of my age may have went through the clubbing phase.....the boozy weekends....... Although I wasn't one for the dancing, the booze, the birds and music was a fond memory of growing up. I remember seeing Pete Waterman and Michaela Strachan, when I was 17 in Blackpool's Palace nightclub in 1988 or '89 when The Hitman and Her were in town! Then came the acid house phase which progressed into rave culture in the nineties. Anyone else frequent Hangar 13 in Ayr,The Metro in Saltcoats,Jesters in Girvan,The Fubar in Stirling,Jackie O's in Kirkcaldy? |
The Hitman & Her were at the Coliseum nightclub in Halifax around that time too, I was only 10 so didn't go but my 14 year old sister did and my parents only found out about it when they saw her on the show, first time ever it wasn't me in the shit! "They all float down here, they allll floaaaattt!!!" |
 Yeah it wasn't a problem for underagers to get into clubs back then! |
I used to frequent The Depot in the Lawrence Hill area of Bristol in my youth. Last I'd heard, the fuzz had closed it down. Shame really, as it played a nice mix of drum n bass/jungle/house/electronica plus had a nice chillout room, too. Good times. ;) |
Oi! Less of the 'phase' stuff... I'm still there. Just did my latest gig at the weekend! |
 My ambition was always to have a weekender in Madchester at the Hacienda, but me and the mates never ever got round to it......:( |
I only ever went to the Hacienda once. Think it was '86 or '87. Good night but the mate I stayed with lived in Preston and we missed the last train so ended up walking around Manc city centre for about 4 hours in freezing cold Feb! |
Those were the days eh? Take it you're a DJ mate? |
The Hitman and Her came to Burnley Cats Whiskers a couple of times. Great fun even though i wasn't into dance music. In the mid eighties we used to go to the Carlton pub in Burnley every Friday and Saturday night religiously, it was a cool rock pub back then, now sadly closed. At the end of each Saturday night we would wander down to the Cat's Whiskers, then Later Angels nightclub and just drink / dance the night away. Those were the days when no one cared what you dressed like, a rock band t-shirt was just as acceptable in the clubs as shirt and trousers. Happy days. Sigh! |
Anyway-club/dance/music what were you all in to? Here's a floor filler if ever I saw one. Together - Hardcore Uproar - YouTube |
