Already pre-ordered!

An extra soundtrack CD included would've been a cool bonus of course, but nonetheless... all the other extras look EXCITING.

Some questions regarding the included audio tracks:

Will it include Italian as well, or "just" the English audio?
Dolby Digital mono or lossless?
7.1 audio also? In italian?

Lookin' forward to it... a lot!

I want to know all of those things too but, as the saying goes, "all good things come to those who wait". I'm prepared to hold off and wait so this can be the best release possible.

Shameless have got back to me and have said that both Italian and English audio will be included, both in Dolby Digital Mono.

The reason for this is that Shameless always strive to release films as closely as possible to how they were intended. While Shameless will always try to restore audio, they see no valid reason for creating a false 5.1 audio track that never existed in the first place.

Hope this clears that up!

Just out of interest, why are Shameless going with Dolby Digital and not providing high definition soundtracks (DTS-HD Master Audio or LPCM)? I know it's an old film but, the higher the bitrate on the soundtrack, the better. I'm fine with Dolby Digital but I'm just a little puzzled by the lack of an HD option.

I'm so, so glad they think like this.

Agreed, even if it's just the mono tracks.

I've spoken to Shameless and, at this stage, the disc is not yet authored so they are taking all comments on board and have said they have found the comments on the forums very useful.

Shameless will always strive to produce the best possible quality but, for such a small company, cost is also an issue. They will, however, take comments on board and analyse all possible solutions with the authoring people before taking a final decision on what to use.

Excellent. LPCM mono would be a big selling point amongst AV aficionados over (or as well as) Dolby Digital as the uncompressed sound is so much better, normally clearer, sharper and with better seperation. With a soundtrack like the one on NYR, you want that theme to sound as good as possible!
