I imagine you can put whatever you want on a DVD or Blu-ray case but it's probably cheaper to go with the 'official' case with the Blu-ray logo which will be partly supplied to the distributor in order to keep the Blu-ray logo in the public consciousness. I think what Shameless are doing is a real piece of marketing genius as those who like the yellow cases that they've bought DVDs in will see that and think "Wow, a Shameless Blu-ray -- I'll have to buy that" whereas those who haven't yet bought a Shameless release will be drawn to the yellow box in amongst all the blue and black ones.

It certainly is a major selling point for this release. It will really stand out on the shelves of any retailer and on your shelf at home.

Totally agree -- it would be fantastic to have a row of Shameless Blu-rays in their yellow cases on a shelf.

A feast for the eyes isn't it? Just glorious!

Imo so much better than the lesser ABUS/BU artwork and a vast improvement over the variant illustration showing Mickey Scellenda's hands hovering over a female victim. I've never been truly enamoured by this latter design.

I don't like the BU artwork at all. It's always looked to me like it's called The New York Ripper II because of the double yellow line protruding from the bottom of the title. The Shameless BD artwork is definately the best there is for NYR.

It's the actual quality of the ABUS and BU artwork that truly turns me off this particular illustration. The Shameless BR cover does something more interesting with the concept and simply looks more impressive imo with the transparent blade-wielding spectre looming over the lifeless female.
