Default Rodney Adams.

THE most inept guard ever to grace the series. Rodney was Ferguson's cheif lackey who always seemed to be carrying the can for her. He thought that he was a hard edged screw, but more likely than not, the women managed to get the better of him. The episode in which Lisa Mullins records him at an am-dram rehearsal has to be one of the funniest in the whole series.

The problem with Rodney isn't that he's inept. It's that he's not allowed to be anything else. Rodney and Marty are easily the two least interesting officers Wentworth ever had because they're both predictable, unchanging one-note ciphers. If only, just once, Rodney had been allowed a Crowning Moment Of Awesome, or Marty had made a slip-up somewhere, they might not be irredeemable.

Joyce Barry wasn't much better at that point in the show's history, either.

I don't know about that. I always got the feeling that Rodney leaned towards the farcical. If anything went wrong, you could guarantee that Rodney had a hand in it. The way that Philip Hyde played him was superb too, Full of piss and vinegar in front of Ferguson, but as soon as he was left to fend for himself he turned into a sniveling little coward.

I really loved the character of Rodney. Totally agree with Mr 240 as I loved the fact he was a wimp one minute but the next minute he could be really nasty (like the racism to Sarah West) and sometimes even dangerous like when he attacked Spider Simpson. He was farcical most of the time but thats what made me love him so much.
mr 420 and ScottishMermaid like this.

I still remember the beating he gave to Spider. That was nasty!

I really like Rodney. Okay he is a major moron, but that's what adds to his charm, lol. I liked how he is a bad guy, yet also a plonker. He didn't have it in him to be as bad as the freak, but he tried his best, lol. I would have liked to see what became of him!

Rodney was just a corrupt dumb officer, I love how Joan catches him redhanded bashing Kath Maxwell, and front that point, he had to do all the corrupt dirty work Joan commanded him to do, like Bashing spider simpson (shocking), and picking up contraband with Kath to run her shop, and once even losing Merle, and while doing most the work, it was agreed he only recieve 10% of the cuts! (30% to Kath, and 40% to Joan)
