Cynthia Leech, scurge of Blackmoor.

This is the one character that I wish that they did more with. Sure it was good in that giallo-like style that you only got to see her scarred hand, but the way the they wrote the character she was Blackmoor's equivalent to Joan and you actually believed that she could be a lot nastier. It was almost like Joan was her apprentice and she would do whatever her mistress commanded. The fact that she was only in for a few episodes (and briefly at that!) and then dissapeared really annoyed me at the time. The writers really dropped the ball with Cynthia.

Having built the character up so well, it was a major disappointment that we never saw her when Rita went to Blackmoor.

As we never saw her face, they wouldn't have had to worry about the actress's availability, either - Blocky isn't exactly averse to recasting roles anyway, and they could have got away with casting pretty much anyone who fitted the type for Cynthia.

Squandered potential.

Very true. I also thought that the Blackmoor episodes would of contained some Cynthia shenanigans. Perhaps they thought that Craven was a strong enough character to convey an evil presence and they didn't need another to steal his thunder? Like you say though, squandered potential.

Yes, they really should have used her...pity.
