In addition to Kurosawa's stuff there have been a few really fantastic and more obscure japanese cinema releases I'd wholeheartedly recommend:

THE SAMURAI TRILOGY
THREE OUTLAW SAMURAI
---
PALE FLOWER (basically a Yakuza themed 60s film noir)
MAKIOKA SISTERS (a war-time period drama - slow but moving)

I didn't really get on with Suzuki's two films BRANDED TO KILL and TOKYO DRIFTER, although they're both held in high regard among western critics

Do you mean Manhunter? It's already out on a very nice Blu-ray.

Ah, Thief. Forgot about that one. Obviously. Great film and James Caan is excellent.

My dream - a double pack of David Lean's two Dickens adaptations and Peter Bogdanovich's Targets which has been OOP forever, but then again so was Seconds....

Guy on DVD maniacs saying a Peter Weir box set is a possibility - would be incredible

Anyone care to share their thoughts on Insignificance? I've never seen it and am thinking about picking up the blu ray.

I always thought the likes of Criterion (or Arrow) might have considered a release of the original Rollerball (James Caan 1975).

Depends on A the price, and B your love for Roeg. Not as immediate as his other flicks, at least it has Tony Curtis cough
