Okay, fyi, I played them through the PS3 onto a new (ish) 47 inch led tv.
I couldn't tell them apart at all. To be honest I don't think anyone else could either unless you got a 100 grand setup, but even then...
Someone mentioned that the black tones were very milky but I cannot say I had that problem on either disc. The blacks were pretty solid, a bit of grain - but I prefer that to too much noise reduction, and quite frankly you will never get a better release on a home viewing format.
Considering the mediabook is limited to 1000 and already on ebay for £99.00 (!!) then the BU release is the way to go.
But secretly you'll know you really want the highly collectable German one!
Do you have your PS3 set to RGB limited or full? I had to switch to full to get anything remotely resembling black, whereas it's supposed to be limited. Didn't lose any black level detail really doing it as there wasn't much in the first place.

My RGB, you limited, what now??
Sorry mate, I'm old. Plug PS3 in, connect to amp, play Fallout 3, New Vegas over and over again.
I used the ps as I thought it was something most could relate too. I also played it in my Panasonic blu ray but there was no difference at all. The blacks aren't as deep and rich as modern films but this is 30 odd years old on grainy film stock. It ain't gonna get much better.
I did also read that there is only one HD master of Maniac so any releases will be the same. How true that is, I don't know but comparing the two I would concur.
Wish I could help more..

I saw a picture of a german mediabook (presumably) of Dario Argento's Trauma on High Rising's FB. I don't see it in stock anywhere though, have I missed out, or is it a future release?

Ooooh. Interesting. What's the consensus on the PQ of the German Sleepless release? Is it a significant upgrade over the DVD?

Yes. I haven't seen it myself, but according to the screenshots and the reviews I have heard, It looks quite good.

You can find some screenshots here, unless you have already seen them

These Mediabooks are really something - Burial Ground and Halloween 111 arrived today and I am tempted to order some more:

So are these releases re-packs or do they do their own releases? I'm quite to pick some up myself!
