Both releases look better than the DVDs on my set up but then I've not freeze framed anything and just sat and watched the films.

I'm refering to the compression artifacts visible in all the black areas of the blu-ray-screenshots.

Here, I marked an example for you.

Obviously, it will look different in motion. But at that amount it will still be visible. Especially if you have a big screen or even a beamer.

Yeah, the macroblocking can be a bit annoying at times. The worst ones was in the beginning, when Buddy swings his meat cleaver at the screen before the title comes up. Those blocks was hard to miss

Though I watched it on a 60 inch screen, and might not be as noticeable on smaller screens.

I have seen much worse cases though, and I´m still happy to have this obscure movie in my collection

I must be blind, as I never noticed, and I'm watching on a 50".

Me I'm deffo blind.

Looked superb to me.

I've owned Slaughterhouse and DGITW in various guises and the 88 releases are the best they've looked.

And you Wilson-No more ****ing announcements before the end of the month, you've cost me a fortune the last week.....

Same thing with blu-ray vs. DVD. 90% of the population will tell you that you that there is no difference at all.

Compression artifacts can easily be avoided by changing encoding parameters. The sooner 88 films are informed that there is a problem, the better for their future releases.

Is there a technical thread for 88 films Stephen?

Don't want to start ruining the great announcements on this thread with yawnsome technical arguments.....it was enivitable though.

I don't see yawnsome (interesting neologism, I didn't know this word and had to look it up on the internet) arguments, yet a simple, respectul and informative discussion about technical aspects of an upcoming/new release by 88 Films.
