Default releases

it some times gets very arrow vs 88 on these threads. But I think for uk genre fans we are living in the land of plenty compared to a few years ago. Good releases from arrow, 88 films, odeon, second sight, shameless , 101 films. Good stuff.

It's even harder now, because it's clear Arrow are keen to get back into the Slasher and Italian market.
Won't be the first time Arrow's transfers haven't been up to scratch Fuzz.

Bravo.

I've said this till I'm blue in the face-nothing puts a company off more than the all knowing movie forum community constantly hammering their hard efforts. And let's face it,some of these titles hardly rake back the cost of their outgoings!

If you own the dvd and are happy with the quality - hold on to it temporarily.

If you fancy a punt on the blu ray version - buy it.

If you like the Blu Ray disc-punt the dvd.

If you hate the Blu Ray-punt the blu ray.

If you're a hoarder-keep them both.

Problem resolved.

As far as Italian releases go I actually think that Arrow have the right idea. One or two releases with lots of effort and money spent getting them as good as they can, thats why Zombie flesh-eaters and Milano calibro as well as contamination are as good as they are.

If cash cannot swing it then connections can. I think the previous comparison between 88 and camera obscura is a little unfair as CO have some connections in Italy and gen get Scans other labels can't. Even then they can only work with what they get, the recent short night of the glass dolls being one that was a little less than previous efforts thanks to the source materials.

Thinking about it, I was wrong to say that labels should ignore italian titles. Perhaps just wait until they get the finances/connections to do them right rather than expecting to be able to buy something off the shelf from LVR.

Just been round to my mates and have done a comparion on Zombie Holocaust with the shriek show release. It definitely looks a step up in quality.

Got my package of rewards as well! Quite surreal to see my name in a booklet.

Still no Bloodstained Shadow though...

I emailed 88 films as i too am waiting on Bloodstained Shadow. I received an email back stating all there Bloodstained Shadow stock was sent to HMV instead of a few units for some reason and they are now waiting for them to redirected back to 88 films.
