Thanks for explaining. I'd assumed that the quality of any footage could be worked on as to make it acceptable - but then I know absolutely nothing about the technical side...

If you have The Wicker Man on DVD and watch the 'director's cut', where the difference between the material which was used on theatrical release and the (then) newly inserted footage is night and day, a little like switching between high-definition and VHS. Now imagine the poor quality material is even worse and you're about on the right track!

It's also sometimes the case that the material simply isn't available so can't be scanned and digitally restored in the first place. There is a complete version of The Wicker Man, which is even longer than both the director's cut and 'Final Cut', but it's rumoured to be buried somewhere under the M6 around Spaghetti Junction!

Anybody else's Bloodsucking Pharaohs come in a different red case to all the other slasher collection? Mine is a non-transparent red case with squared-ish corners unlike all the other transparent cases in the collection which also have much more rounded corners.

I haven't picked it up yet, but I saw someone on Facebook mention it the other day.
I know it will annoy me that they don't match when I do buy it!

Yeah, 88 have said they were having trouble getting more of the cases they used for the others, so they had to use the ones you described.

Yup, I picked it up from HMV and it has the square corners/opaque.

I've just swapped them around so the first nine are in the original style cases, and numbers 10 and 11 are in the new ones. It doesn't look much different when they are all together. I'll try and put a photo up tomorrow

Ah, brilliant idea! It's been annoying me that Splatter University (#4) is different in middle of the "old style" cases. It'll be less so that way.
