Basically when it comes down to it you get what you pay for. 88 releases are £8.99 from HMV, Code Red's cost £30 to have delivered if you can get hold of one.

We all know 88 don't really re-master their films and just release the print they are given so it's no big deal really.

Take a look at my Beyond the Darkness links.

The 88 films transfer, has a green tint, to the shadows, which also affects skin color.

Then compare it to the Severin screenshot, which has had proper correction.

The fine-details in the 88 films transfers look great, but it's lazy, that they skip the proper color correction.

As someone who has worked on color correction, I know how important it is too the final results.

Like I said, I haven't seen a disc with a picture where I have had a major problem with the colour balance or overall quality. For the money I spend, as Demdike says, I am more than happy because I can't afford the huge sums for the same films from Code Red or Severin.

Like others they appear fine to me, while others you show looked "false" to me the colours are to "colourful" while 88 has a more natural look(well too me), but it seems a common thing on a lot of blus with colours more blue etc than in real life.

but thats just me and i would rather pay 8.99 than pay £20 plus to code red.

How do you know what they look like?

You just buy em' then sell em' to CEX the next day.

Fair enough.

Personally though. I would gladly pay a few £ more, if they added some proper color correction.

And yes, those US discs are more expensive, but when shipping a 88 films disc to Sweden, it doesn't get that much cheaper than the US discs.
Maybe I'm too harsh on them. But it's frustrating, when they don't go all the way, and let other labels do the finishing touches instead, as I rather would support 88 Films than Code Red.

I have to agree with Steel on this. I'm due a copy of the remastered Anthro, but after that I'll be pretty much done with the Italian collection unless I can find them for ~£5.

At least the new Anthro transfer, seems to have gotten more love, when it comes to the colors.

I noticed an improvment in PQ with hands of steel. I think 88 should consider colour correction. for people overseas where there is little difference in price then I'd say go code red.

For me, Well I used to buy code red's stuff all the time. I had a good job and that paid for the discs, but now i'm moving to a low income I can no longer afford them. Personall while I thought it looked marginally better, for me its not £20 better. Perhaps its my shitty eyesight, perhaps because my initial experience with the films were awful 10th generation bootlegs with ADD tracking issues.

My first Zombie Flesh Eaters copy, was so far gone from the original, that it turned B&W, with colors coming back just a few times during the movie
