The real issue is budgets. Stephen is quite correct in that not every release can be crowd funded and unless the label has real cash to splash then as lot of firms will be at the mercy of the Italian labs.
You are absolutely righ here. But when they don't have enough money to remaster their releases properly why do they ask very high prices for Anthropophagus and Zombi 3? Both are 19.99 plus the shipping cost. That, plus their lack of communication, plus false advertising (sometimes).

To be fair, although the PQ may not be perfect, the Anthro release does have value which justifies its price tag - it has the 42nd Street documentary, which is feature length. It could be worse.

It'll be on Grindhouse Releasing's blu-ray of Pieces too. The price will be cheaper and the quality of the release much better.

Not necessarily - even Grindhouse is not immune from the Italian DNR/noise transfer problems. The PQ of their releases of Cannibal Holocaust and The Beyond did not exactly leave the Shameless or Arrow in the dust, as some predicted that they would. Plus I read that although the Shameless Cannibal Holocaust is cut for animal cruelty, the documentary "The Road to Hell" is apparently uncut, but the doc is cut on the Grindhouse.

Actually the Grindhouse release of Cannibal Holocaust, DID leave the Shamless disc in the dust. The Shameless disc had heavy scanner noise problems, while the Grindhouse disc had natural filmgrain, which was a mix of 16mm and 35mm footage. Though the Grindhouse disc DID have a few problems with compression artifacts. But even so, the Grindhouse disc looked MUCH better, since it didn´t have that scanner noise, and had much more fine-details intact.

Maybe we should make a thread dedicated to that damn LVR lab and their love for scanner noise?

Pieces will be a 4K transfer and Cannibal Ferox looks stunning and it costs only $24.99, just saying.

The issue of poor compression makes it worse because that's one area where you cannot blame LVR.

Nemesis, Grindhouse Releasing's Cannibal Holocaust indeed has some issues but it completely blows the Shameless release. You can't even compare them. I'll try to post a couple of comparison screenshots later today when I'm home.

Actually there gotta be serious compression problems to wipe out the fine-details in the image, and the Grindhouse disc got plenty of fine-details, and I also said a FEW problems with the compression, as the problem isn´t there all the time, just in a couple of scenes where the bitrate get a bit to low.
The Shameless disc got problems with scanner noise through the entire movie, and lots of fine-details are destroyed thanks to that mess.
