Apparently, Deep River Savages has still been cut by over 3 minutes for animal cruelty. I did expect it to be honest.

I saw this pre-cert VHS - personally I found the animal stuff repulsive and will still get this but everyone is different I suppose, no doubt there will be uncut versions appearing abroad soon enough.

Yes three minutes and one second according to the BBFC website, no great surprise at all but I never thought the animal violence lasted for that long.

I also find the animal violence repellent, so don't mind the cuts one bit. However, it has been awhile since I saw the uncut version, but I don't think the animal cruelty was worse than Cannibal Holocaust, which has only a few minor trims now.

From memory the actual scenes were quite protracted like Cannibal Ferox therefore illegal.

The original release on the Screen Entertainment label was cut by 3:45

"Cuts required to remove sight of real animal cruelty (in this case setting a mongoose on a snake; locking a monkey into a vice and slicing off the top of its head; a cock fight; cutting a snake and bleeding it alive; and stabbing a crocodile in its neck with a small knife) in accordance with the terms of the Cinematograph Films (Animals) Act 1937 and BBFC Policy."

Mind you, the German release, on the Best Entertainment label was cut by 5 minutes!
