Looking at the specs, the new Blu-Ray release contains the following special features:
  • All Region Codes
  • NEW (2018) 2K Scan and Restoration from Positive Elements
  • Restored LPCM Original Mono Audio
  • Optional English Subtitles
  • Original Trailer
  • Restoration Comparison
  • Reversible Sleeve
  • Cardboard O-Ring

Compared to the original 88Films DVD release, which contained:
  • All Region Codes
  • ANAMORPHIC WIDESCREEN 1.85:1 TRANSFER
  • ORIGINAL MONO AUDIO
  • AUDIO COMMENTARY BY DIRECTOR ALFRED SOLE & EDITOR EDWARD SALIER
  • ALTERNATIVE “COMMUNION” TITLE SEQUENCE
  • ORIGINAL TRAILER
  • STILLS GALLERY
  • REVERSIBLE SLEEVE

the Blu-Ray adds a restoration comparison, but loses the commentary, alternate title sequence and stills gallery

Special features matter to me, so I don't think I would bother with the new re-issue
Same here, sticking with the dvd as special features are the main selling point when buying (or re buying) a cult title!

Maybe we have been given the restoration comparison already!

well the old Anchor Bay release supervised by Bill Lustig wasn't as beaten up as that demo - however, that was in 1.66.

i also remember the Lustig restoration was the Director's Cut (some material that had been cut for time was added back in) to enable Sole to get his copyright back. so the question i'd like to know is this the Director's Cut and is it uncut also with the complete cat cruelty sequence (it was faked btw)?

It's been confirmed that 'Navajo Joe' has been cut by 9 seconds due to the animal cruelty

It's not something I noticed when I watched the BD a month or so ago, so whatever has been cut can't be integral to the plot and has been edited very well.

I'll be keeping the Alice dvd for the features as well.
But to pass on seeing one of the best creepers of the seventies in hd is just lunacy!

Default alice sweet alice

a relentlessly grim slasher, but very artistic. Always liked the alternative title communion better.

Apparently The Hysteria Continues have recorded a commentary for the upcoming 'Offerings' release
