I have a CMV Hardbox of ENDGAME on Betamax.
Badly needs an upgrade.

I wonder if something is going on between 88Films and HMV

88Films have just posted the following cryptic message on FB:

"So who’s supported the HMV sale? How much do you like going into store to buy our products? How much would you miss it if we weren’t in their stores?"

Does this suggest that they are thinking of becoming mail-order only

I wouldn’t be surprised. I know they make less money from their titles sold instore than they do direct from them, so you never know.

Bad idea.

Instore browsing is far superior to net browsing. As i don't visit 88's website that much i doubt i'd buy much at all. Even net browsing HMV i've bought 88 things that i didn't specifically intend to, such as the five releases i purchased a few weeks ago.

I'm trying not to shop with the tax cheats at all so it's either HMV or nothing.

As most here know, I tend to order 88 Films' titles direct from them rather than wait. When I have been in HMV, I've bought things which I didn't intend to when I left home – that would be lost sales if there were no 88 Films titles in store. Browsing online just isn't the same.

Like Dem, I’m more of an in-store kinda guy, I live and work a stones throw from the centre and find it more convenient to pop to HMV than order online. If 88 Films became mail order only I highly doubt I’d buy their releases unless they end up in CEX. I buy on impulse most of the time.

As long as they keep free postage online 88's webstore is competitive so that's a plus.

Even Code Red who went Cartel only now try and get releases via other outlets so it's perhaps not something they should be thinking about really.

They would totally lose the entire browsing market who might be attracted by a cool 88 artwork on the shelf.

i only ever buy 88's stuff in the hmv 5 for £30 offer as there is absolutely nothing they have released that i cannot wait for in the sales.

and even if they did i'd still have to hold off to make sure a superior edition wasn't released stateside

I do buy a majority of the 88 Films releases but mostly when they have a sale in Fopp or HMV. The only titles i have ordered direct from 88 Films in the last few months were Eyeball and Amazonia but only because i have nearly enough points to get a £15 off discount code.
