Been in love with Japanese vhs for many years and did also buy some Japanese dvd's over the years... ;)
Any other fans?

The only Jap dvd I've had was KILLER CROCODILE 2 which cost me £15.00. I got NO ROOM TO DIE off e-bay but it turned out to be a copy!:censored:

bdc 27th August 2011 09:46 PM

Did you sell Killer Croc 2 then Pete?

Pete 27th August 2011 09:47 PM

Yeah, got rid a while ago - bloody awful it was!

bdc 27th August 2011 09:51 PM

Sorry to hear that,I personally liked it...trashy but fun imho.
You should really see the first one though. ;)

Pete 27th August 2011 09:58 PM

I actually do!:loco:

I read an interview with Fabrizio De Angelis where he said he wanted Gianetto Di Rossi to make him a big croc and the only way he could get him to do one was to let him direct a sequel.

bdc 3rd September 2011 07:01 PM

Just made a nice deal with a Dutch collector for another old Japanese dvd... ;)

Does nobody else own any?

Pete 5th October 2011 01:12 PM

Just received this. I was told the transfer was non-anamorphic, but checking it turns out it is. :)

It's a giallo directed by Umberto Lenzi.

I have a few Japanese dvds of Jet Li/Jackie Chan. They all have the longer cut (except Drunken Master 2) and the original soundtrack:

Has anyone shopped at amazon.co.jp for Japanese DVD's. Do all the marketplace sellers ship to the UK? or is it just their choice so I have to ask them individually?

How much is the standard shipping price to UK from them too, I don't have a translate option on my computer at work and I'm trying to work out if it's cheaper to shop at amazon.co.jp instead of Yesasia

 :decision:

Drakie79 26th February 2012 05:10 PM

My Japanese boxset release of Demons I and II is my most treasured boxset.

wongfeihung62 26th February 2012 05:17 PM

Only Japanese DVD's I have are

KING KONG vs GODZILLA
GODZILLA FINAL WARS

Drakie79 3rd March 2012 05:56 PM

My Japanese cinema collection is much larger than my Italian one.

Watch what you're doing mate.

bdc 18th March 2012 10:23 AM

I was expecting a HK dvd to arrive after a deal I made with a collector but got this Japanese dvd instead... ;)

Also has English subs but 5.1 audio.

SaturnHST 27th June 2012 10:41 PM

Found a seller who has lots of brand new Japanese dvds for only $4-9 each, so I picked up a bunch. These are all the 2-disc editions (some have 3-4 discs). I think the Hulk 3-disc set was the only one over $10.

Very nice! :thumb:
And that's a bargain imho!

SaturnHST 29th June 2012 02:39 AM

This is where I got them from:

Sade - Bring Me Home - Live 2011 CD DVD 2012 NEW items in Japanese Gadgets Store store on eBay!

the blob 29th June 2012 03:09 AM

Those Ultimate Editions used to go for a lot of money. I had the Terminator and Silence of the Lambs ones.

I remember Terminator was OOP for a while and was selling for about £50 used at one point!

Expensive.Import charges over a certain amount.
Are they worth it?
To the casual movie viewer, probably no.
But to the serious collector and the artwork aficianado, then yes, well worth it!

Bought any Japanese Blu's lately?
Know where to get them cheaper?

I don't own any myself, but I have heard that the Japanese Night of the Living Dead Blu is supposed to b the best of a mediocre bunch.

It costs about £75 but has all 3 cuts of the film in HD and it's the best zombie movie ever made

Linbro 3rd June 2014 09:48 PM

I have a few, will post some pics later. The Lynch slipbox releases are my favourites.
Postage time, from Japan to Australia, is extremely fast.

Waste of money if you ask me, sure, the movie is great but the transfers of the BDs are not good for the price of the set.

Apparently they were encoded in the wrong colour space - or something.
If you can access the right settings in your BD player, you can fix the problem. For that price though, it should be plug-and-play.

Paul@TheOverlook 4th June 2014 10:16 AM

I've bought many films from Japan over the years on LaserDisc and DVD but off the top of my head the only Blu-ray I have is The Straight Story. I may have a couple more but I really can't remember.

More Lynch - these are all 2 disc editions, with nice extras like 'Dumbland', and various early shorts. The slipcovers are amazing, the pics don't really do them justice.

Going to buy these at some point. I think these are the only BD release (apart from a French version of the first film) that use the original poster artwork.

That accolade would go to THE LIVING DEAD AT THE MANCHESTER MORGUE.;)

Lovely......

I have the same Dawn of the Dead release as Sam Tyler. Haven't watched any of the cuts yet, so I can't comment on quality.
