I haven't seen any of these AGFA things before so any would be blind buys. To be honest they all sound pretty dubious.

Aye. It's, er, technically a step up from Things certainly . Just as bloody daft as well.
It's the comm I want it for.
I cried with the laughter during Things. There's a fanboy one as well, but Gillis' daughter's input is pricelessly honest ahem.

'Smut Without Smut Vol. 1' - Blu-ray pre-order available from 101 Films direct - RRP £15:00

Release date: September 12

"Part of the American Genre Film Archive range.

The initial run comes with Limited Edition 'O-ring' packaging.

Beneath the dumpsters of America, a netherworld of “adults only” genre movies lurks in the gutters. But what if these movies were less about the smut and more about everything else? “Smut Without Smut” is X-rated genre movies with the X-rated bits removed. In other words, your perception of reality will never be the same again.

THINGS TO COME (1976)
A future dystopia dream-epic shot in San Antonio, THINGS TO COME finds Julie leaving her marriage to investigate a mysterious sci-fi cult on behalf of frustrated women everywhere. With a soundtrack that feels like it was cribbed from A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, ambitious sets that look like leftovers from STAR TREK, and no lack of robots, computers, and bloody violence, THINGS TO COME is a truly unique Texploitation headtrip.

THE DIRTY DOLLS (1973)
Coasting on the fumes of the Manson murders, THE DIRTY DOLLS follows psychopath Johnny and his cultish gang of women as they embark on a bizarro crime spree filled with stolen diamonds, senior citizen drag, grimy sex, and cold-blooded murder. Directed by Stu Segall (DRIVE-IN MASSACRE) under his adult-movie nom de plume “Godfrey Daniels,” this is a sleazy summer-bummer from the wilds of California."

Special Features
  • New 2K preservations from the only known 35mm prints in existence
  • “Smut Without Smut” and uncut versions included
  • Commentary track on THINGS TO COME (“Smut Without Smut” version) with the AGFA team
  • English subtitles

'Scary Tales' (1993) - Blu-ray pre-order available from 101 Films direct - RRP £15:00

Release date: September 12

"SCARY TALES proves that the films of John Waters and Don Dohler aren’t the only genre miracles from Baltimore. A shot-on-video horror anthology that plays out like a public access version of CREEPSHOW, this is what happens when Satanic necklaces, bloodthirsty slashers, and DUNGEONS & DRAGONS-styled live action role playing collide with cool dads, neon lightbulbs, and dungeon synthesizers. AGFA and Bleeding Skull! are thrilled to present this charming, gore-filled dreamscape that has been meticulously pieced together from its original S-VHS master tapes.

NOTICE! This movie was shot on VHS and edited on tape. Please approach the technical quality of the transfers with empathy."

Special Features
  • New transfer from the original S-VHS master tapes
  • Commentary track with director Doug Ulrich
  • 1987 demo version of SCARY TALES
  • Outtakes and vintage TV promo appearance
  • Bonus movie: DARKEST SOUL (1994)
  • Early horror shorts by director Doug Ulrich
  • Reversible cover
  • English subtitles

I really don't get the point of this. Might as well just call them cut 70's porn.

At least the originals are included but i just don't get the selling point of smut films without smut.

What benefit is there releasing it on Blu-ray except to charge the punters more than a dvd?

It's going to look like shit, they tell you as much.

Looks like the kinda thing you'd find on a Mill Creek or Pendulum Pictures 100 film set. Not the sort of thing i'd shell out 15 notes for.
