"Though he made two feature films – the legendary WHO CAN KILL A CHILD? and THE HOUSE THAT SCREAMED – the ultimate legacy of writer/director Narciso ‘Chicho’ Ibáñez Serrador remains his groundbreaking 1966-1968 Televisión Española series HISTORIAS PARA NO DORMIR. Serrador wrote, directed and introduced every episode, adapting stories by Ray Bradbury, Edgar Allan Poe, Robert Bloch and his own material under the pseudonym Luis Peñafiel, shocking Franco-era audiences with black humor, macabre themes and sharp social commentary while inspiring generations of Spain’s greatest genre filmmakers as well as a 2021 reboot. This definitive 2-disc collection includes Serrador’s complete classic series, 1974 special, 1982 mini-series and more that celebrates the Lifetime Achievement Goya Award winner Nerdist calls “one of the great Euro-Horror directors of all time.”"

Special Features:
  • Tales From The Spanish Twilight Zone — The Chicho Ibáñez Serrador Story
  • Select Episode Introductions By Narciso Ibáñez Serrador
  • Press Conference Promoting El Televisor (The TV)

Disc Specs:
  • Aspect ratio: 1.33:1
  • Audio: Spanish mono
  • English Subtitles
  • Region Free
  • Run time: 1485 minutes

This is great genre mining from Severin. I'm intrigued...

'THE FIVE DAYS' (1973) - 4K UHD Coming to 4K UHD from Severin Films

"After FOUR FLIES ON GREY VELVET, Dario Argento stepped away from giallo to create what remains the only non-horror/thriller – and least-seen film – of his career

Set during 1848’s five-day siege of Milan by the Austrian army, a cynical thief (pop star Adriano Celentano) teams with a naïve young baker (Enzo Terascio of THE DEAD ARE ALIVE!) to survive the brutality and absurdity of the Italian Revolution

Marilù Tolo (THE SCORPION WITH TWO TALES), Glauco Onorato (BLACK SABBATH) and Salvatore Baccaro (aka ‘Sal Boris’ of THE BEAST IN HEAT) co-star in this dark action-comedy that reflected turbulent ‘70s Italy and Argento’s own politics, from a story co-written by Enzo Ungari (THE LAST EMPEROR) and Luigi Cozzi (PAGANINI HORROR) with a rousing score by Giorgio Gaslini (DEEP RED), now scanned in 4K from the original negative with over 4½ hours of all-new Special Features"

'THE DEVIL'S GAME' (1981) - Coming soon

"In 1981, RAI-TV presented six hour-long films based on stories by 19th century horror/fantasy authors from such directors as Giulio Questi (DJANGO, KILL!), Marcello Aliprandi (A WHISPER IN THE DARK) and Giovanna Gagliardo (STREET OF MIRRORS), starring actors that included Veronica Lario (TENEBRE), Saverio Vallone (ANTHROPOPHAGOUS) and Stefano Madia (THE DEVIL’S HONEY)

But it was the mini-series’ second episode that remains its most celebrated: The final work of legendary director Mario Bava – and the debut of his son Lamberto Bava as co-director – LA VENERE D’ILLE/THE VENUS OF ILLE stars Daria Nicolodi (DEEP RED) and Marc Porel (DON’T TORTURE A DUCKLING) in an elegantly chilling tale of supernatural love

Five episodes have been sourced from broadcast masters, with Bava’s swan song restored from a 16mm print discovered in the RAI vault by film preservationists Simone Starace and the late Michele De Angelis"

Special Features and specs:
  • Audio Commentary For La Venere D'Ille With Tim Lucas, Author Of Mario Bava: All The Colors Of The Dark

so severin is releasing it in the us while it's getting released by cult/shameless in the uk with suspiria and opera so it makes the uk release complete and utterly pointless because it's the old release from 2011 so there is no point in them releasing it especially with the other two films since they are just the same transfer from years ago

For the UK only buyer of which there will be many more than import, it's still a decent deal.

There's more than a few on here that can only buy region B discs.

Severin are actually saying that all Four Flies discs will be region friendly. I wish it was also the case for the blu-ray in their Five Days set (I'll only be able to play the 4K UHD). I plan on ordering both once they go live on black Friday. btw I can't understate how bad the audio fault is, towards the finale on the Shameless Flies bd release. I thought it was gonna damage my speakers. Outrageous that there wasn't a replacement program or at the very least, a quiet fix.
