Cancelled my Amazon.com pre-order of the Amicus boxset & re-ordered from Severin as they've sent me an email stating it's now on back order.Severin do seem to actually have it in stock now after the delay & if there are no customs issues I would rather get it from them.I've plenty to watch in the meantime including about 8 premium collection releases from HMV.

Just had a dispatch email for the JACK THE RIPPER ltd Blu-ray/dvd combo so I'm hoping the AMICUS COLLECTION will not be far behind.

I only just bought this film late last year but not watched it yet. An Italian dvd.

I'd no idea Severin were releasing it in a combo pack.

Director Monty Berman went on to make a lot of stuff for ITC including Department S.

I have the Sinister Film release too of JACK LO SQUARTATORE (UK 'X' Theatrical print from what I can gather) with the French continental scenes of nudity & violence as an extra.I'm hoping they've found better source materials of the spicier footage for the US version.

Ha,ha.

It's odd really. I'd never heard of the film this time last year. Then in the Autumn i watched the Network Department S box set and it was mentioned in the hour long documentary. Then a matter of days later i read about it in Jonathan Rigby's English Gothic book so decided to see if it had any sort of release.

Talking with you about it means i'll definitely be watching it this weekend.

The 2K restoration of the US version will be coming out from Severin in the spring but the dvd with three cuts is exclusive to the ltd edition & is sold out.

The 2K restoration of the US print will feature footage of the murders & various scenes cut from the UK release print & both are on the Blu for comparison. It's not the definitive 'Ripper' film but it's quite entertaining. My favourite Ripper related films are TIME AFTER TIME, MURDER BY DECREE (With Christopher Plummer as Sherlock Holmes).HANDS OF THE RIPPER & A STUDY IN TERROR.The Ripper episode of NIGHT STALKER with Darren McGavin was one of the best episodes.
