'The Road to Salina' (1970) - Coming to Blu-ray & DVD from Kino Lorber Studio Classics

Release date: July 6

"Jonas (Robert Walker, Beware! The Blob), a young drifter, stops at a desolate roadside service station where Mara (Rita Hayworth, Separate Tables), the owner, identifies him as her son Rocky, who disappeared four years ago. Jonas is overwhelmed by the awkward situation, but tired and hungry, accepts Mara’s offer of room and board. Initially, he believes that Mara is simply delusional, but when Mara’s old friend and neighbor Warren (Ed Begley, Billion Dollar Brain) arrives for a visit, surprisingly, he also acts as if Jonas were Rocky. Even when the attractive and carefree Billie (Mimsy Farmer, The Perfume of the Lady in Black), his alleged sister, comes home, she appears to recognize him as her brother and soon takes him under her wing.

As an erotic relationship develops between them, Jonas soon discovers that Billie may have killed her own brother and Mara could very well be covering up the crime. Explosive events bring him to the edge of madness as he confronts the consequences of his “free ride.”

The Road to Salina is a tense, gripping tale of forbidden love written and directed by Georges Lautner (Le Professionnel, Icy Breasts). Featuring a haunting score by Christophe, featured years later in Quentin Tarantino’s in Kill Bill: Vol. 2 and Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani’s Let the Corpses Tan."

Special features and specs:
  • 4K Restoration from the Original Camera Negative
  • NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historians Howard S. Berger, Steve Mitchell and Nathaniel Thompson
  • TRAILERS FROM HELL with Larry Karaszewski
  • Includes Both English and French Audio Tracks

I need to keep an eye on when these are available as there isn't the fan foaming like there is for Arrow and 88 releases.

I'll probably post them again when there's a release date and some artwork. I suspect they'll go for somewhere around October.

This has to be of interest to someone on here? Great title, great poster, great lead... I have no idea what the movie's like?

Kino has announced it will be releasing ICY BREASTS, a Euro thriller based upon an early novel by by sci-fi favorite Richard Matheson, SOMEONE IS BLEEDING.

COMING SOON!
4K Restoration from the Original Camera Negative!
Bonus Features & Final Art – To Be Announced!

ICY BREASTS a.k.a. LES SEINS DE GLACE / SOMEONE IS BLEEDING (1974) Color 105 Minutes 1.66:1 Not Rated

International icon Alain Delon (Le Samouraï, Un Flic) stars in this French-Italian psychological thriller written and directed by Georges Lautner (The Road to Salina, Le Professionnel). Seeking inspiration on a beach in Nice, writer François (Claude Brasseur, Band of Outsiders) meets the mysterious young widow Peggy (Mireille Darc, Weekend, The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe) and falls in love with her. Stalking her to her villa, he finds lawyer Marc Rilson (Delon), who warns him that Peggy has a dark and violent past. Bodies pile up in this provocative Euro-chiller based on the novel Someone Is Bleeding by Richard Matheson (Duel, I Am Legend).
