In for Wolf and Eyes of Laura Mars.

It's great that Jason and the Argonauts is in that box set, but I already bought the HMV premium edition, so that's left me on the fence for that particular release.

Michael, how come Powerhouse can release Jason and the Argonauts so soon after the HMV Premium Collection version?

Presumably because they asked Sony very nicely and Sony said yes - and I think HMV only had an exclusive window of six months or so.

But the box may well end up containing exactly the same disc, although that's no great hardship: I don't recall anything being particularly wrong with it.

Thank you for the reply. I didn't realise companies could license the same film at the same time as other companies in the same country with only a short window between the two.

If you were a Criterion collector you'd know this only too well. A good majority of their films are already out in the UK a hell of a lot cheaper as well

I think i'd read something somewhere (no citation) that the exclusives were a 6-month window.
Edit - I didn't see that Michael had already said the thing about the 6-months as well, but it wasn't him where I'd originally heard it To be fair it might have been about something other than the HMV premium collection but HMV exclusivity periods in general.

i must of read the PH Facebook post wrong as I could of sworn they said announcements would be Thursday

oh well great releases again anyway. i held off the HMV Jason release (was that a 4K?) so this is great for me.

i may be completely wrong but i don't think HMV can be classed as a distributor? they can perhaps get an exclusive deal as a stockist but Sony would have remained as the official distributor.
