Release date: January 16

"Starring Hollywood legends Richard Widmark (Madigan) and Lena Horne (Stormy Weather) – the latter in her first dramatic role – Death of a Gunfighter is an elegiac tale of the last days of the Old West.

In Cottonwood Springs, Marshal Frank Patch kills a man in self defence. The town council, wishing to move away from frontier justice and into the modern world, decide that it's time for Patch to retire. Patch refuses, but with the dead man’s son swearing revenge, and the council refusing to take no for an answer, he senses his time might be up.

Based on a novel by Lewis B Patten, the film made history when, due to director Robert Totten’s late replacement with Don Siegel (The Lineup, Charley Varrick), the pseudonym ‘Allen Smithee’ was born, prompting critics to praise Smithee’s debut!"

I was going to order The Big Gundown and Remember the Night direct from Indicator but i'm pleased i didn't.

With today's news that The Big Gundown has been delayed until the ed of January it would have meant not getting Remember the Night until them as well which would have been annoying seeing as it's a Christmas film.

That Myth Magic and Mutilation box set has also been delayed again until the end of January. Pretty sure that's now a three month delay on that one.

Powerhouse is well aware of how annoying this would be, which is why they're dispatching Remember the Night on schedule regardless of whether it was originally part of a bundled order. So if you ordered it, no matter what else was in the order, you'll get it well before Christmas.

Remember the Night is now dated as Dec 19th on Indicator's website.

With the Christmas post and postal strikes on top i doubt i'd get this before Christmas.

Disappointing.

If you preorder direct then you should have it delivered before release date (or at the very least - before Christmas). All my previous Indicator preorders arrived before the release date listed on their site.

Happy new year all!

Does anyone know what is happening with Michael j Murphy? It's now showing as unknown release on Amazon. I suspect this is just not going to turn up.

Also, do we think Indicator will pull another Hammer set out the bag this year? Desperate for Abominable Snowman and 7 Golden Vampires.

Speaking of vampires, Indicator have made a fortune out of re-packaging the 20 film Kino Lorber set into pricey box sets. Will they go beyond the films in the KL set at all or would that be too big an ask?
