I haven't seen either of those, so that's a bonus. It's much better than spending money on something which I already have and would only be buying to keep the collection going.

Innocent Blood is terrific. Not seen Dolores Clairborne. The book was from the King era where his wife wrote them all. |

Dolores Claiborne is not bad. It's more Southern Gothic than full on horror and, in fact (to my memory), hones out a lot of the horrific sub-plotting told in flashback in the novel to concentrate on Kathy Bates' story. I find that the films often improve on King books because the books are extremely overwritten - his editors are scared to suggest cutting a book down simply because it is King. Filmmakers have to concentrate on one aspect to keep the running time at a manageable length. Two of the best adaptions are Shawshank Redemption and Stand By Me. I think this is because they are written as novellas and are really lean stories compared to King's novels.

Good to see all these WA titles filtering through. Innocent Blood is great and Dolores Claibourne is a great King thriller.

I will stop. Apologies, I hate going to work while a lot of people will not bother. Will keep posts related to films. No personal opinions. Goodbye. Last edited by Nostalgic; 20th April 2020 at 07:35 PM. |
