Looks like the legacy collections are getting uk releases on 8th may according to amazon, though they arepriced at £50 each when you can get the american ones from around £28!

Justin101 25th March 2017 11:55 AM

Amazon tend to price everything at RRP nowadays until HMV list it at the actual street price, then they price match.

Looking forward to getting these sets :) It's just weird that 3 of them have Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein on them lol

Demoncrat 25th March 2017 03:24 PM

Watched The Wolf Man recently. Aside from the geography:lol: it's a belter.

Universal-stop with the shitty artwork re-releases and give us ORIGINAL artwork ala Warner Premium......I think you'd find they'd sell a lot more!

Nostalgic 10th May 2017 01:29 PM

The legacy collections are now out in the uk at around £30 each, but i was wondering (as someone who does not have a multi region blu ray player) what other good universal releases are out in america but not yet in the uk? As universal do not region code! Only one that springs to mind is halloween 3, but does anybody have any good region free horror blu suggestions that could be imported?

Nostalgic 22nd May 2017 08:08 AM

Don't know if it's temporary, but the Frankenstein legacy collection has jumped to a whopping £42 on amazon! I remember missing the legacy collections when they originally came out in the uk (with the 3 monster head statues) now they're overpriced, just don't have £120 to blow on 4 blu ray sets but worried they'll disappear as these things do, lol!

Justin101 22nd May 2017 09:44 AM

My main issues with these sets is the sheer repetition of films, Frankenstein has 8 films but I think 3 of those can be found on the Dracula set and perhaps the Wolf Man set as well. And since I have the 'Monsters' set already, along with the repetition of films I think I'd rather wait until all the individual releases come out. So far I think it's just The Mummy ones and the Abbot and Costello films.

I was hoping that might be a sticker!

Justin101 22nd May 2017 12:29 PM

It's definitely a sticker on the box set, and I'm 95% sure it is on the BD meaning if it is it will be on the DVD too, I can't be 100% sure though.

Where have you seen that image, the one I've seen on Zavvi/Amazon/HMV is different?

Attachment 190853

Unless it's a slipcase and the image you posted is underneath on the actual set

Also, each set is still £29.99 on Amazon, £24.99 on Zavvi at the time or writing

That's the Box Set, what Dem posted is the stand-alone version. All the other films in the Mummy Box Set have single disc versions with similar covers.

Ah right, I wasn't aware they were available separately :thumb:

These are the Abbot and Costello ones too, ...meet Frankenstein is in the Frankenstein, Dracula and Wolf Man boxed sets

Rob4 22nd May 2017 01:28 PM

i think the legacy sets will almost certainly be cheaper to import if you can play region A

Got to agree, the wolfman, drac & frankenstein sets cross over a lot of films, plus i have the monsters blu ray set which includes the first of each series.

Rik 22nd May 2017 08:27 PM

As much as I'd like to own these in HD, I already have the Legacy sets with the three busts, and the Monsters coffin set, so unless they drop significantly in price I think I'll pass

Ditto.

J Harker 22nd May 2017 08:54 PM

Are they limited?

Rik 22nd May 2017 09:22 PM

Don't think so, I've not seen any mention of them being limited

Then i would expect sooner or later the price to drop. The original Universal Monster Collection blu set can now be picked up a hell of a lot cheaper than when it first came out.

Bride of Frankenstein remake is due out in 2019, seems like they are planning on the Marvel style cinematic universe first mentioned years ago

The thought of a Marvel style Bride of Frankenstein actually makes me cringe.

god does that mean they've planned out their movie releases for the next 30 odd years

Rik 23rd May 2017 11:29 AM

It would appear so

I can just picture it. Shia La Beouf's Dracula resurrects Frankie Babe (Megan Fox) so they can throw skyscrapers at The Wolfman (Robert Pattinson)

Justin101 23rd May 2017 11:30 AM

Christ on a bike, they're all going to be terrible aren't they, The Mummy looks bloody awful.

That one was 7 years ago so I doubt it counts as part of this 'universe' and they'll make another one.

Me neither.

That like the original films was a classic Gothic tale. Hopefully they might keep it this way, however The Mummy suggests they won't.

bleakshaun 23rd May 2017 11:36 AM

see with this universal monster universe this just comes straight to my head

I like The Wolfman, I thought they did a pretty good job with it, I also like the much hated Van Helsing, but The Mummy looks like a Mission:Impossible film with horror elements added

that's my view, i loved the brendan fraser version, at least there was comedy elements (even if some of them were awful)

Demdike@Cult Labs 23rd May 2017 11:41 AM

The Universal er' universe needs to be monsters and horror, not superheroes shat out of hell.

What next? Female Ghostbusters?
