'Hammer Horror Vol. 1' - Collector's Edition: The Evil Of Frankenstein + Paranoiac! + Nightmare (+ Posters + Poster Cards) pre-order available from Umbrella direct - $110:00 aud

Release date: December 7

"Chilling, thrilling and full of killing! Prepare yourself for a blood drenched sample slice of the legendary Hammer House of Horror. Collected together for the very first time are these three sinister sixties shockers accompanied by all-new exclusive special features, a bonus disc of over 100 Hammer trailers and a sixteen page collectors booklet.

THE EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN

THE MONSTER IS BACK – AND NO ONE CAN STOP HIM!
Legendary horror icon Peter Cushing returns as the Baron in this gloriously gothic entry in Hammer’s highly successful Frankenstein series. Discovering his monster entombed in a block of ice, the Baron hatches plans for its resurrection. But to revive the brain-dead creature, he is forced to enlist the aid of an unscrupulous fairground hypnotist named Zoltan – who sees an opportunity to use the monster to exact murderous revenge against his enemies. The Baron soon finds himself fighting for control of his creature, climaxing in a shocking, fiery, battle to the death.Directed by famed Oscar winning cinematographer, Freddie Francis, THE EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN is not only a spine-chilling throwback to the Universal Studios classic but a slice of British cult cinema guaranteed to satisfy diehard horror aficionados and thrill-seekers alike!

PARANOIAC!

Shocking! Horrifying! Macabre!
“A suspenseful and smartly paced opus.” Variety
In the 1960’s, inspired by the success of PSYCHO, the legendary Hammer House of Horror produced a number of psychological thrillers scripted by screenwriter Jimmy Sangster.Sangster’s ultimate puzzle picture, PARANOIAC!, told the disturbing tale of the Ashby siblings gathering to claim their late parent’s inheritance. The appearance of a long dead brother, a decade after his apparent suicide, unearths a history of obsessive and sadomasochistic relationships… and quite possibly murder!Showcasing an early, explosive performance from Oliver Reed and boasting countless plot twists to keep horror fans guessing until the final frame, PARANOIAC! stands proudly as one of Hammer’s darkest and most sinister thrillers. But, let’s leave the final word to The New York Mirror: “Idiotically entertaining, provided, of course, that you can find entertainment in blood, gore and lunacy.”

NIGHTMARE

SUPERNATURAL OR SUPER-MURDEROUS?
Janet spent her 11th birthday watching her father being stabbed to death by her insane mother. Can you imagine what a thing like that can do to a child? Now, aged 17, she suffers from nightmares so intense that her teachers fear for her sanity and decide that the best plan of action is to return her to the family home. But, the familiar surroundings only help to accentuate her night terrors.Janet fears that she is going mad – and if the disturbing visions aren’t traumatic enough, how will she survive a birthday party with a cake and a very large knife?Boasting a screenplay by Hammer psycho-thriller specialist Jimmy Sangster that, according to The Daily mail, guarantees audiences “One long scream!”NIGHTMARES is an eerie, atmospheric chiller that lays shock upon shock and twist upon twist right up to its breathless climax.

In this groundbreaking, homegrown creepfest, a deranged, reclusive hermit (Norman Yemm) delights in dismembering unwary travellers and keeping company with a colony of rats fed on blood. When a young woman (Carla Hoogeveen) crashes into one of the madman’s ghoulish road traps, so begins “an unrelenting avalanche of terror” (The Australian).

'Twisted Nerve' (1968) - Collector's Edition Blu-Ray (+Daybill +Press Book) pre-order available from Umbrella direct - $39:95 aud

Release date: January 18

"“A great film. A beautifully restrained and underplayed exercise in slow-burning Hitchcockian dynamics.” D.R. Shimon – THE SHRIEKING SIXTIES

Umbrella Entertainment proudly presents the long awaited WORLD PREMIERE BLU-RAY RELEASE of this iconic psychological chiller – pithily described by its star, Hayley Mills, as “Polyanna stalked by a pervert.”

One of the most controversial psycho-sexual thrillers of the late-1960s, TWISTED NERVE features Bernard Herrmann’s eerie whistling theme (later borrowed by Quentin Tarantino for KILL BILL VOL. 1), a supporting cast of acclaimed UK thespians (including Billie Whitelaw, Barry Foster and Frank Finlay) and a complex, suspense laden screenplay from the writer of the seminal shocker PEEPING TOM (1960).

Martin Durnley (Hywel Bennett) is a surly recluse of extraordinary cunning. After meeting an attractive young student, Susan Harper (Hayley Mills), Martin hatches an elaborate plan to charm his way into her life. To appeal to Susan’s nurturing instincts he adopts an alternate personality, Georgie, a simple, mentally challenged man-child. This devious deception sets in motion an unsettling tale of deadly obsession and frenzied murder! "

Special features:
  • Feature presented in the original UK aspect ratio of 1.66:1 and alternative full frame 1.33:1
  • NEW! Audio Commentary by English Gothic author Jonathan Rigby and Encyclopedia of Fantastic Film & Television editor Kevin Lyons

I posted that there was no mention of Herrmann's work for the movie, which was odd, and of course there was and now I can't delete this post lol
