It's amazing, the lengths to which the cover avoids suggesting that this is a period pictrure. As a Selleck, Seymour and Hutton fan, it's is a must see!

Retro Horror Double Feature Vol. 5: 'Dr. Cyclops' (1940) / 'Cult Of The Cobra'(1955) - Blu-Ray + A3 Reversible Poster pre-order available from Umbrella films direct

Release date: August 3

"Only on the Umbrella webstore, the first 100 orders will receive an A3 reversible poster featuring the original posters!

CULT OF THE COBRA: While on their last tour of duty in Asia, six American GIs meet a snake charmer in the narrow, incense-filled streets. Thrilled by legends of humans transforming themselves into serpents, the men buy their way into a secret gathering of snake worshippers. But they are discovered, and for defiling the sacred ceremony, the Lamian high priest vows revenge, cursing them with death. Shortly before they are to be discharged, Nick (James Dobson) is killed by a hooded cobra. Back in New York, the five remaining friends return to civilian life. Roomates Tom (Marshall Thompson) and Paul (Richard Long) are both in love with Julia (Kathleen Hughes), and when she chooses Paul, Tom is devastated until he meets exotic Lisa Moya (Faith Domergue), who moves in across the hall. But Lisa's mysterious arrival coincides with some very strange goings-on, as one by one, the former GIs meet with violent, seemingly accidental deaths accompanied by snake-inflicted wounds. Is the beautiful Lisa actually the agent of the high priest's curse? It's up to Paul and Tom to discover the truth before it's too late.

DR. CYCLOPS: Set in the Peruvian jungle, this 1940 landmark science-fiction adventure, directed by pioneering filmmaker Ernest Schoedsack, follows four explorers as they search for legendary physicist Dr. Cyclops. When they discover their missing colleague, they find his brilliant mind has been warped by radiation and decide to return him to civilization for psychiatric help. But the half-blind, half-mad scientist will have none of that, and uses an experimental body-altering device to reduce his former friends to one-fifth their normal size. Now, harmless items and small creatures suddenly become giant-sized instruments of death! The impressive use of special effects, which garnered an Oscar® nomination, helped make this Technicolor sci-fi classic one of the most imaginative and memorable fantasy films of all time."

'Martyrs' (2008) - Blu-ray pre-order available from Umbrella Films direct - Aus$39.95

Release date: September 7

"Many movies come to mind when you hear the term "torture-porn". Saw, Hostel, The Human Centipede. But, in France, they turned the extreme acts of inhumanity into more than just gore. Martyrs defined the genre known as New French Extremism amongst the likes of Irreversible and Inside.

Pascal Laugier has said Martyrs is not about pain but about suffering. Martyrs doesn't shy away from the brutality it confronts you with. Yet it gives dark meaning to the gore, that means what you feel will stick with you just as much as what you see.

Lucie, a frail, frightened, adolescent girl flees an abandoned slaughterhouse. Her opaque skin suggests she has been missing for many months. She is found filthy, starved, and unresponsive. Something horrific has happened to her. But what? Flash-forward 15 years later when the quiet tranquillity of a home nestled in a sparsely populated French forest is interrupted by a knock at the door – it’s Lucie, embarking on a gory quest for revenge. Pascal Laugier’s 2008 sophomore feature garnered a notorious reputation after audience members attending the premiere at the Festival de Cannes were left wide-eyed and mouth agape. Its reception so shocking, it was immediately threatened with censorship in its home country, with calls for the director to be imprisoned. MARTYRS is a brutally confronting and provocative example of the French New Extremity a work of dark brilliance and vile beauty. A genre-defining classic so profoundly traumatising, it transcends all constraints of your average horror film and dives into the murky depths of human degradation and suffering."

Release date: September 7

"EXCLUSIVE TO THE UMBRELLA WEBSTORE! First 100 orders receive a full-size daybill poster!

For the first time ever in HD, A Dangerous Summer is #18 in our Ozploitation collection.

As was the trend for Ozploitation movies in the 80's, A Dangerous Summer features some international talent in none other than Tom Skeritt, hot off the back of his role in Alien (1979).

A Dangerous Summer didn't quite make waves in its home country of Australia, but Americans really took to the movie under the name Flash Fire.

Hollywood heavyweights JAMES MASON and TOM SKERITT star in this gripping Ozploitation gem about Howard Anderson, an American architect, battling a deranged arsonist to save his million-dollar resort in the picturesque Blue Mountains. As temperatures soar and bushland is decimated, Anderson races to save his property – and also his daughter’s life – from a madman whose crime has escalated from arson to murder. Packed with action, intrigue and one Ozploitation cinema’s most iconic set-pieces (WENDY HUGHES dragged underwater by an unseen assailant at Bondi beach) A DANGEROUS SUMMER is a homegrown thriller that is as fast and explosive as a raging runaway bushfire!"
