Just read that interview with Mike Lee in Darkside (thanks Vip's) conducted by Jay Slater who was working for Vipco at the time.

It was interesting. I didnt know Vipco submitted Cannibal Ferox several years before the bbfc gave it a certificate because Ferman apparently wanted to leave it gathering dust in a drawer.

ML's comments about Redemption were good 'I've seen some of their stuff and its very boring. It doesn't get to the point like Vipco product. I certainly woudn't have Salon Kitty on our label. It takes two days before a woman takes her kit off '

Funniest thing from the whole interview is that Vipco's dvd of Blood Camp Thatcher is in a stunning print!

I'm gutted their proposed double dvd of Sewage Baby and The Slime never happened.

I have just noticed that the BBFC claim Zora Kerova's murder in The New York Ripper has been cut from the trailer even though it hasn't:

Cuts required to detailed sight of topless woman having her torso cut open with a razor blade and to clear sight of a woman being stabbed in the groin with a broken bottle. Cuts made in accordance with BBFC Guidelines on sexual violence and trailers, and in line with the requirements of the Video Recordings Act 1984

Strange.

The footage of the razorblade murder is not in the trailer. Kerova's murder was cut in the (unused) Vipco trailer but intact in the Shameless one.

The BBFC also list the cuts to NYR as 34 secs which is incorrect. The total is actually 19 secs. For some reason they appear to have simply added the video cuts total (22 secs) to the trailer cuts (12 secs) to produce 34 secs. In the case of the Shameless release the cuts were substituted.

I mentioned this to the BBFC long ago but the information was never updated.

The cut to Korova's murder is also mentioned on the Argent submission.

The cuts to the razor murder on the vipco tape are very messy. Ulike the Shameless release which is alot smoother. I lent the Shameless version to a friend and he said he had no idea it had been cut.

I have it on a disc here. If I hadn't seen it I couldn't have commented about the differences.

It was sent to me via a download long ago.

I prefer the Shameless release too, PN. The actual cut footage can be seen on here anyway, and the cuts are so well made it makes little difference for me. Slowing the scene down and cutting to reaction shots from Jack Hedley make it just as nasty to watch.
