Nightmare Maker (Night Warning) could do with a UK release. One of the best of the nasties with some excellent performances.

So could NIGHT OF THE DEMON.

Yes I recall that one too. Long overdue for a release. |

I think that one's been mentioned before Vince....

I really enjoy Anthropophagus too, the pacing is a bit slower but it's much more atmospheric than the follow-up Absurd.George Eastman's make-up is crude but effective, just like the rest of the movie's gore FX.I reckon this would sail past the BBFC if submitted now, I don't think there would be any problem with the foetus munching scene as it's very phoney looking. It would be great to see a company like Shameless release it uncut in the UK .

I couldn't see any BBFC problems with Anthro today either.

I'd say Beyond the Darkness is my favourite D'Amato film, closely followed by Anthro.

I remember seeing a documentary on censorship that compared the cut and uncut versions of Evilspeak - didn't they cut out bits of the film just for showing Satanic rituals or something daft like that?

Yes the US version removed whole scenes and chunks of dialogue. The BBFC cut the graphic (for its time) violence. Mostly the gore at the end, plus the pigs killing Lynn Hancock in the bathroom. Clint Howard also turned up in Silent Night, Deadly Night IV. |
