the best way to find out is go to
http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/
they list 1000s of dvds and give you info on whats cut out company release date etc

id get the fox Italian dvd of inferno its better than the BU dvd, excellent picture quality,English and Italian soundtracks and has English subs
for cannibal holocaust the grindhouse dvd has better extras the ec ultrabit has the uncut last road to hell
Cannibal ferox if you can find it the Sazuma Productions - Ultrabit Edition (comes in a nice tin with lobbycards) but its not cheap
Night of the demon you can get a R1 dvd that came out in 2002 went out of print in the same year but ive only seen it on amazon at it was $100 used lol

vipco 3rd July 2009 02:31 PM

You can pick SS Experiment Camp in HMV for around £8. uncut.

The Shriek Show Nightmares is cut the same as the ABUK Box of the Band disc.

Yeah, thanks, that'll come in handy. So R1 Anthropophagous is uncut? Good to know, I remember hearing somewhere that I'd have to import an Italian copy.

Does this site cover boxsets? Just wondering, 'cause it says that Bay of Blood is cut in the UK, and I'm wondering if that's also the case for the release in the Mario Bava Collection which I was planning to get soon.

EDIT: well, that clears that up - Bay of Blood is actually in the second Bava boxset, which isn't out here yet. My bad.

vincenzo 3rd July 2009 03:19 PM

The BBFC would have passed Nightmares In A Damaged Brain without any problems but alas the print was pre-edited. Same with the UK Bay Of Blood DVD.

The Blackhorse release of SS Experiment Camp is uncut but dire (bit like the film really).

vipco 3rd July 2009 06:18 PM

So my Bolevard Entermaint ' Bay of Blood' is cut then.?

The UK Film 2000 DVD is the same print as the Redemption video (cut by 43 secs). It would easily pass uncut today.

vipco 3rd July 2009 10:42 PM

Is DVD 2000 the same company as bolevard Entermainment .?
Their release runs 84 mins BBFC 18. (2006)

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 3rd July 2009 11:10 PM

It's cut Vip's.Source the ABUS or AWE version mate.

vincenzo 3rd July 2009 11:12 PM

The Boulevard release is the same print as the Film 2000 one. The Elite/Boulevard Pieces was also a Film 2000 re-release.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 4th July 2009 09:48 AM

I have the Raro release of Bay, and the transfer is equisite.... I also have the Stomp release under the title of Twitch of the Death Nerve - Another good transfer, but I'm pretty sure this one is OOP.

Nora 4th July 2009 10:45 AM

Pete 4th July 2009 10:47 AM

You can get SS Experiment Camp in a value for money triple pack from Exploitation Digital along side: SS Camp 5 Womens Hell and SS Girls.

Avoid the uk disc of SS Experiment, awful pic quality.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 4th July 2009 11:15 AM

The following titles in your R1 list are also available on R2 (or R0) uncut:

-Anthropophagus (Beat Records - 2 Disc)
-The Beast in Heat (AWE)
-The Beyond (AWE, EC Entertainment)
-Cannibal Ferox (AWE, Sazuma (numbered tin))
-Cannibal Holocaust (AWE, EC Entertainment)
-Deep River Savages (Shock (Titled: Man From Deep River))
-Gestapo's Last Orgy (AWE)
-House on the Edge of the Park (AWE, EC Entertainment)
-Island of Death (Cine Club)
-Zombie Flesh Eaters (AWE, Blue Underground) - Shriek Show is the best version for extras though.

Also, I have a lot of Blue Underground titles and I'm pretty sure that they all are R0; Amazon infuriating lists them as R1 though.

Pete 4th July 2009 11:18 AM

There was a tottaly illiegal UK release of Deep River Savages in the year 2000 by DVD Classics that was uncut. Its now extremely rare.

Yes it's dire. Fullscreen with a lousy sleeve and seems to be a straight VHS transfer. The only extra is the extremely graphic trailer for Cannibal Taboo.

Nora 4th July 2009 02:55 PM

Dug up some more info via DVDCompare:

UK:

Cannibal Terror - Screen Entertainment

The Funhouse - R4 release is best, although the British release is uncut
There Was a Little Girl/Madhouse - Dark Sky R1 (although British release is uncut)
Night of the Bloody Apes - R1 Something Weird, part of double feature with Feast of Flesh. UK release uncut. See also Something Weird Beauties and Beasts boxset.

Xtro - R1 Image Entertainment

vincenzo 4th July 2009 05:40 PM

The UK Don't Look In The Basement Stax DVD is uncut though completely devoid of extras. The sound quality on the UK Madhouse is absolutely chronic. :ack:

kevxxx1 4th July 2009 10:30 PM

Of the official 39 nasties:-

Absurd (aka Horrible) - coming from MYA uncut but non-anamorphic
Anthropophagus The Beast - US Shriek Show uncut
Axe - US Something Weird uncut (1.33:1) / UK ILC uncut (1.33:1)
The Beast in Heat (aka SS Hell Camp) - US Shriek Show uncut

The Cannibal Man - US Blue Underground uncut
Devil Hunter - US/UK Severin uncut
Don’t Go in the Woods… Alone! - US Code Red uncut (1.33:1) / UK Film 2000 uncut (1.33:1)

Madhouse - US Dark Sky uncut / UK Film 2000 uncut but non-anamorphic and with awful sound level
Mardi Gras Massacre - No release yet. This could do with a decent release.
Night of the Bloody Apes - US Image (Something Weird) uncut (1.33:1) / UK Film 2000 uncut. US version has great extras.
Night of the Demon - No release yet. This could do with a decent release.
Nightmares in a Damaged Brain (aka Nightmare) - Coming from Code Red, don't hold your breath!
Snuff - US Blue Underground uncut (1.33:1)
SS Experiment Camp - US Media Blasters uncut / UK Blackhorse uncut but shoddy and best avoided.
Tenebrae - US Anchor Bay missing few unimportant seconds / Holland A-Film and Scandinavian Star Media Entertainment/Atlantic Film/Future Film are uncut
The Werewolf And The Yeti - Released in Spain but in Spanish only. This could do with a decent release.
Zombie Flesh Eaters - US Media Blasters Shriek Show uncut / UK Anchor Bay uncut. US 2-disc has best extras.

To the best of my knowledge, I have kept this list to the best quality available US/UK releases unless there's a significantly improved release from another country.
I don't profess to have seen every release of these from around the globe so any updates would be welcome.
I've also ignored any Vipco releases as they just generally offend me.

vincenzo 4th July 2009 10:48 PM

Blood Feast - The UK Tartan release is cut (the whipping scene). The Odeon release is uncut.
Night Of The Bloody Apes - The UK Film 2000 is cut (basically everything). The Redemption release is uncut.

The only cut to the UK Cannibal Apocalypse is a very brief (2 sec) shot of a rat on fire during the sewer chase. Not even noticeable.

trench 5th July 2009 01:23 AM

As regards Cannibal Holocaust, I haven't seen the Ultrabit print, but I've yet to see a better transfer than the Dutch Studio 2602 Media Madness release. Blows the original EC and Grindhouse releases away. And it includes the Road to Hell sequence. I can post some uncompressed screenshots if you like, it's awesome. You may be able to pick it up online at freerecordshop.nl. The same label released Man from Deep River and Eaten Alive, both similarly good prints, but I've not compared them to other releases.

That Media Blasters/Shriek Show release of Zombie Flesh Eaters is something else as well. Almost too good.

Angel 5th July 2009 08:07 AM

Interesting that Love Camp 7 was released on DVD here. Needless to say it was an illegal release like the uncut Deep River Savages.

The EC Ultrabit version of Cannibal Holocaust has the best print that I've seen (so far). Plus it is completely uncut and restores the road to hell sequence. The AWE version is also supposed to have a terrific print, and again is completely uncut. I haven't seen the Media Madness release, so cannot compare that with the EC version I have.

I agree with you on Shriek Show's ZFE - an amazing package, and very hard to top IMHO.

The Slayer
Don't Look in the Basement
The Dorm that Dripped Blood/Pranks
Expose
Forest of Fear
Frozen Scream
Love Camp 7
Mardi Gras Massacre

Although these are available on DVD the releases are no better than VHS bootlegs and could all do with an upgrade.

They also released Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals. Not sure if its uncut though.

The VCI disc of Don't Look in the Basement doesn't look too bad, certainly better than some other so-called PD stuff I've seen released on DVD!

I got the STAX dvd of Basement in Music Zone ( R.I.P ) for £1.97 and it doesn't look too bad.

Same here. Pretty good print indeed.

I wonder if the Stax release was taken from the same master that VCI used - because the VCI disc looks pretty good to my eyes. It was one of the very first DVDs I ever bought.

Hey,

I am looking to get the very best versions of all the video Nasties (dpp 39) etc as well as all other legendary "brutal movies", By best I am speaking of course both picture quality and FULLY UNCUT.

It doesn't matter what Region as long as they are english language versions and UNCUT or the very nearest possible to UNCUT you can get.

Thanks for any help

All the Vipco editions of those movie's ( except The Beyond ) are cut.

I think the 2 disc edition of CH is missing 5 seconds from the Road to Hell sequence.

all the rest are uncut.

These are the uncut UK DVD releases (I haven't listed cut prints) of the DPP 39 to date. The full DPP 74 list is more extensive......

Axe (ILC release - previous Exploited DVD is cut)
Blood Feast (Odeon release - previous Tartan DVD is cut)
The Burning (Vipco)
The Devil Hunter (Severin)
Don't Go In The Woods (Film 2000)
The Driller Killer (ILC & Anchor Bay releases - previous Visual DVD is cut)
Evilspeak (Anchor Bay)
Flesh For Frankenstein (Tartan)
House By The Cemetery (Arrow of course - previous Vipco DVD is cut)
Last House On The Left (Second Sight release - previous Anchor Bay DVD is cut)
Madhouse (Film 2000 - very poor sound quality)
Night Of The Bloody Apes (Redemption release - previous Film 2000 DVD is horrendously cut)
SS Experiment Camp (Blackhorse - poor picture quality)
Tenebrae (Anchor Bay - some footage missing due to print damage)
Zombie Flesh Eaters (Anchor Bay release, though this is only available in the first Box Of The Banned - previous Stonevision DVD is cut)

The UK (Cinema Club) Cannibal Apocalypse DVD is cut but only by 2 secs (a shot of a rat on fire). The cut isn't noticeable and the extras & presentation more than compensate for this.
