"Good news! The films housed in our 4 Marx Brothers at Paramount 1929 – 1933 Collection will be released as standard editions this April!

BACK IN STOCK UK TITLE: Duck Soup (Blu-ray)

Release date: April 1

With the advent of the talkies, The Marx Brothers - Chico, Groucho, Harpo and Zeppo - signed to Paramount Pictures and brought their stage act to cinema audience. They made five films in five years, all of which have become cornerstones of American comedy.

In their last film for Paramount the four brothers gave us what many regard to be one of the greatest comedies of all time, Duck Soup. Directed by one of the most exceptional of all Hollywood comedy directors, Leo McCarey, Duck Soup sees the Marx clan spinning a satirical tale of war and war-makers as Groucho's Rufus Firefly declares war on the neighbouring state of Sylvania.

The Paramount era represents the Marx Brothers at their absolute finest, retaining all of the energy and controlled chaos of their stage shows. Plots are unimportant, it's the gags, set-pieces and one-liners that matter!

• High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) presentation, scanned and restored in 4K from original film elements by Universal
• Original 1.0 mono audio
• Optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing
• Commentary by Marx Brothers historian Robert S Bader and film critic Leonard Maltin
• Sibling Revelry, an introduction to the Marx Brothers by critic David Cairns
• MONKEYNUTCRACKERDUCKFEATHERS, a new video essay about the films David Cairns

BACK IN STOCK UK TITLE: The Cocoanuts / Animal Crackers (Blu-ray)

Release date: April 1

The Marx Brothers - Chico, Groucho, Harpo and Zeppo - are one of the cornerstones of American comedy. Starting out in vaudeville, they conquered Broadway and the big screen in their own inimitable style, at once innovative, irreverent, anarchic, physical, musical, ludicrous and hilarious.

In their first film at Paramount, The Cocoanuts, the Brothers kicked off what would become a career of slapstick masterpieces as our lovable quartet take to selling land and running a hotel in only the way that they can. In their second film, Animal Crackers (based on their own theatre production), the brothers turn detectives as they hunt down a painting stolen from a high society party,

NEW UK/US TITLE: Mélo (Blu-ray)

Master director Alain Resnais blurs the line between cinematic technique and theatrical artifice in his award-winning Mélo

Release dates: April 8/9

"Master director Alain Resnais (Last Year At Marienbad) blurs the line between cinematic technique and theatrical artifice in his award-winning Mélo, adapted from Henri Bernstein’s classic play about a doomed love triangle in 1920s Paris.

Pierre (Pierre Arditi, Love Unto Death) and Marcel (André Dussollier, A Good Marriage) are both celebrated concert violinists and lifelong friends, in spite of their differing temperaments. Pierre is modest, sensitive and content with his lot; Marcel is hungry, driven, and pursues a solo career that takes him to the four corners of the world. After years apart, the two friends reunite when Pierre invites Marcel to his home for dinner. It is then that Marcel first meets Pierre’s wife Romaine (Sabine Azéma, Cosmos), sparking a passionate affair that can only end in tragedy before the curtain falls.

As thrillingly intimate on film as it was on the stage, Mélo’s César award-winning cast and inventive direction are highlighted in a stunning new restoration, revealing a hidden gem in Resnais’ celebrated body of work waiting to be rediscovered.

NEW UK/US/CA TITLE: Khrustalyov, My Car! (Blu-ray)

A one-of-a-kind collision of nightmare and realism, Aleksei German’s film is presented here in a new restoration with a wealth of illuminating extras.

Release dates: April 29/30

"Named after the apocryphal exclamation of Soviet security chief Lavrentiy Beria as he rushed to Stalin's deathbed, this blackly funny, deliriously immersive satire distils the anticipation and anxiety in the Moscow air, as the Soviet despot lay dying.

Late winter 1953. The lives of nearly half the planet are in Stalin’s hands. A military surgeon, General Yuri Georgievich Klensky (Yuri Tsurilo), finds himself a target of the "Doctors' Plot": the anti-Semitic conspiracy accusing Jewish doctors in Moscow of planning to assassinate the Soviet elite. Pursued, abused, and marked for the gulags, Yuri is chased and dragged through a Stalinist Soviet nightmare. His desperate, jolting journey encapsulates the madness of the era.

Directed by Aleksei German (Hard to Be a God), Khrustalyov, My Car! proved wildly provocative when it was screened at the 1998 Cannes film festival, despite being championed as the best film of the festival by the president of the Cannes jury that year, Martin Scorsese. A one-of-a-kind collision of nightmare and realism, German’s film is presented here in a new restoration with a wealth of illuminating extras.

LIMITED EDITION CONTENTS
• New 2K restoration from the original camera negative by Arrow Films
• High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) presentation
• Original uncompressed 2.0 stereo Russian audio soundtrack
• Newly translated English subtitles
• Audio commentary by producer Daniel Bird
