People tend to fall into three separate groups where Borowczyk is concerned:

1) People who've never heard of him;
2) People who've only seen or heard of films like Immoral Tales and The Beast, and so pigeonhole (and often dismiss) him as a soft-porn/horror filmmaker;
3) People who have seen a wide cross-section of his work, and know that he's one of the most original and innovative European filmmakers of the past half-century.

Naturally, group (3) is by far the smallest - but it includes people like Terry Gilliam and the Quay Brothers.

The mans a genius and one of the giants of art house and statement cinema. Trash is all well and good but i'm so much more excited for this box set than any announcement made by Shameless, 88 Films or even Shout Factory this year. I'd go without eating for a month if it meant I could watch Goto in HD.

I only watched 'Immoral Tales', and I pretty much liked it - not only because of the nudity, but in general.

Which other films would you recommend?

I've seen five of his features: Goto, Island of Love; The Beast; Love Rites; Immoral Tales and Behind Convent Walls - and I agree it is easy to pigeon hole him. Granted I'd need to revisit them as it's been many years since I've seen some and none left a lasting impact at the time - I always found him an acquired taste.

I understand much of his filmography is not readily available though and would love to see some more of his non-erotic work.

Had no idea he'd done any, Hawk. Thanks for the tip!

I'd like someone to do a comparison check with the US Blu. Can't seem to find one online.

Any word? I was automatically assuming the Arrow was better due to their recent track record.
