I love The Frighteners, but how can they add to the edition (directors cut, commentary, feature length doc) already out?

Robocop & Nightbreed, i think would be a wallet-busting combo if they were both up for october release!

nope, not even Arrow could best the Live dvd in the shite artwork stakes... or can they?

it seems that all you have to do is a fresh 4K scan to get some people foaming.

i have heard it said that early Universal transfers are not up to much but i can't comment on The Frighteners scan as i've not seen it.

I can't see that, my browser says it uses an unsupported protocol.

You'll have to post the image, Rob.

When I saw AWIL on release I remember the print tho nice enough looked pretty rough in scenes at night (the dvd seemed an improvement) be interesting to see what a new 4-8k scan without tinkering would look like.

I've bought An American Werewolf In London twice on blu-ray.

My current version is the 2016 American only Universal re-issue, I've just had a look at it being upscaled to my 4K television and it looks pretty darn good. I know certain folks complained about some noise reduction but it's not really an issue for me - I can still see grain on the print.

If I still only owned the old UK blu-ray, I'd be all over this but that US re-issue is far from shabby imo. And it also has the excellent 97 min making-of documentary and quite a few other featurettes so it's certainly not like it's short of extras. In short, I personally won't be upgrading to a new Arrow AAWIL blu-ray.

Edit: Just checked out The Frighteners blu-ray as well. In that case, there is a lot of room for improvement.

The original release of that 2 discer was missing the scene where David phones his family. You should check which version you have.

I’m familiar with that scene and the only times I’ve watched the film in the last few years has been via my DVD, so I assume it’s the full version. Just looked on Amazon and the one that looks like mine came out in 2009, but I know for a fact I bought it in either 2000 or 2001, I’ll double check when I’ve finished sunning myself with a beer in the garden
