A quick question.

Is Arrow's release of The Thing a new transfer in comparison to the Universal release?

I have it as part of HMV's VHS range already. I know the extras will be far superior on Arrow's version but the film itself?

Sorry the image is large. I can't save it and add it as an attachment. When there are any replies i'll remove it.

I believe that the Arrow version was derived from a director approved 4K scan of the negative. I would imagine that the HMV version uses an older scan, but I can't say for certain.

The Arrow version is vastly superior don't bother with any of the Universal ones, heavy DNR to the point of erasing people's hands etc.

It's probably worth keeping for the quirky packaging

I refuse to pay Arrow's postage £8 plus postage is hardly a bargain...and Amazon are sold out at the moment.

Anyway i've spent enough recently. Especially as i have to pass a Sainsbury's on my way home from having my vaccine tomorrow - Flash Gordon or the Indiana Jones box set will be mighty tempting.
