How do these releases work? I mean Arrow have The Thing and Waterworld but both have also had 4K releases from Universal since.

I believe that with the major studios, the 4k rights are separate to the Blu-ray license, so if Arrow wanted to put both formats out they'd have to pay for two licenses.

I wondered if Arrow's rights had lapsed as The Thing is unavailable on Amazon on Blu from Arrow. It's also classed as limited availability on Arrows store.

Mmn. Maybe they don't have it anymore. That seems a short license.

It was originally released in November 2017, so Arrow had it for around 4 years

The Thing From Another World would be amazing a nice blu ray sweet. But its probably killer klowns 4K or 8K or what ever release thats up to.
