The average cult film fan will be more likely to pick titles up in store or may not be familiar with the title and blind-buy on faith of reviews or word of mouth, or because the blurb on the back sounds good (with Tarantino being such a fan, films such as this have filtered down through into mainstream film fandom too).
Forums like this do tend to create the impression that the vast majority of people shop around globally, but the reality seems to be very different.

When I started work on Arrow's The Night of the Hunter and realised that my budget would only stretch to a single-disc release, I initially thought "What's the point? Won't people just import the two-disc Criterion?" - but this ignores several points, namely:

1. The Criterion is Region A, and the overwhelming majority of UK-based Blu-ray users are locked to Region B.
2. The Criterion is an expensive premium edition, retailing at $49.99 RRP. True, you can certainly get it for less, but you're unlikely to be able to get it brand new for under £20 inc. shipping...
3. ...which means that you're playing the Customs lottery and might well end up spending a fair bit more!

Whereas you should be able to pick the Arrow edition up for half that, and while the Criterion is unquestionably the superior package, the Arrow is considerably better than merely half as good! (Crucially, it's based on the same UCLA restoration, and also has that amazing 159-minute "making-of" documentary).

In other words, it was absolutely worth doing.

OK, check these pics out please.

They look very digital, don't they? Also there's that distracting noise. The runnig time of the movie is 102 min. The movie is only 13.9 GB.

When it come to "mainstream" vs. "cult titles", I buy what I am interested in!

It's as simple as that!!!!

Same for me.

I'm definitely in for all the Price films and Sisters as well as The Beast Within and L'Assassino. I'm not a fan of Delta Force or Porky's, so they definitely won't be getting bought by me. I have the Fernando Di Leo collection already so I will probably hold off on Caliber 9 (unless it's a significant upgrade) and I've never seen Koyaanisqatsi. As for The 'Burbs, lots of people seem to love it but I can't recall it being that great so I will definitely be giving it a re-watch before I decide if I want to purchase the Arrow release or not.

A really eclectic selection, with some top announcement. I really like the Complete Dr Phibes collection, the steelbooks and the Koyaanisqatsi/Powaqqatsi set, which will replace my DVDs.

Well that's strange. I can't see the announcements foe The Pit & The Pendulum and The Assassin on facebook.

All must buys for me. Will be going for steelys when possible as well. Really stoked about porky's. Some may say 'mainstream' but I'm a big fan! Also Chuffed both Dr Phibes are packaged together.

Looks like My Midnight movies collection I took so long to amass is becoming redundant!

Also beast within is a fantastic film. Glad I haven't bought the scream factory release. Going to be VERY poor!
