I'll be honest, Scream Factory is becoming a very weak label in my opinion. All they're releasing now is B or DTV titles from MGM, and that's about it.

I completely agree and, with Arrow seemingly more interested in BFI/Eureka type films than the ones which developed the original fan base, I wonder if the US expansion will be a colossal misadventure.

I have the say I don't keep up with Shouts releases, if I we're multiregional with my Blu player I might be. I certainly was with my DVDs but I haven't gone down the multiregional Blu route yet.

I can think of someone who'll call Arrow 'Bootleggers' right away. :lol:

Shout! has dipped in terms of its releases but Kino and TT are going great guns and when you add Shout!, Criterion and less prolific companies like Grindhouse, Severin and Scorpion, you've not really got a lot of room on the playing field left in the US.

I agree completely with what you're saying, but I believe Arrow have found themselves a nice little market anyway that other aren't taking.

So far they're taking the Japanese market very well, with 4 Japanese titles, either unreleased or no longer easy to maintain.

They're also taking the Italian market well, which despite BU slowly reviving and Synapse entering the market, they're picking up former titles from BU Synapse moves too slow to be a threat except for very very big titles like the Argentos.

This leads me to think that's titles from older companies like Media Blasters and old BU titles, could be done on blu ray from Arrow in both regions.

A fair few titles that Media Blasters had in the US are getting released here in the UK by 88 Films. A lot of the stuff that MB released was deep catalogue and probably not the sort of titles that would produce a healthy return and needless to say, one of the reasons why they're no longer around. The same could be said for BCI.

Synapse isn't a new company, by the way - they've been issuing films on DVD since 1997/1998, making them one of the oldest speciality indies in the US ;)

I meant more entering the Italian films on blu ray market sorry.

Synapse did absolute wonders on DVD, it's shame so many of their early DVD titles won't get blu ray upgrades from them as they've gone to other studios.

And shame about Media Blasters and BCI, as some of their small obscurities were the best. Absolute shame they had 0 clue on how to do blu ray though :pound:

Trouble is, although people like you and I appreciate the lengths companies like Media Blasters and BCI went to to issue really obscure films on DVD, but we're in the minority, sadly.
