Interesting that 15 out of the top 20 best sellers are dvd's and not blu-ray.

Probably why we don't get a lot of things on blu ray, mind a lot of those DVDs are pretty shit, surprised some what that phanatsm is so popular with most of the crap in the topn20.

Interesting that the House collection is also there, as are a bunch of work out DVDs including no. 2 best seller?

Think it proves that the money for physical media is to be made from people like us and not the general population who will just download or stream movies etc. Sure downloading and streaming have some of the highest numbers from the UK

These lavish editions are often in very small numbers in comparison to general release films.

A classic Doctor Who dvd shifts about 40,000 copies in it's chart life so Powerhouse for example won't make anywhere near the same money for 5000 copies of Christine.

Popular general release films sell hundreds of thousands still on physical format.

I imagine companies like Arrow, 88, Powerhouse etc know they have a core audience in the UK of up to about 10,000 tops that they know will buy their releases. Not that every release will sell 10k copies though, not by any means.

If any of these fail such as 88's release of Eskimo Nell then that will be it for that niche of films.
