Just re-ordered 5 of the Zavvi Arrow Steelbooks (not fond of that Maniac Cop artwork) using the promo code, so thanks for posting!

Me too, except I ordered Maniac Cop too, despite not being bothered about it, I wanted another at the cheaper price

The Zavvi steelbooks do look very nice , especially the Phenomena one! The back cover is crazy! However , i think im still skeptical on Steelbooks and the price hike that comes with them , should they not have something more than a different cover to justify the price increasing so highly? I dont know but thats just my personal opinion.

It's been hinted at for months, but no official release date yet (which would change anyway )

They are pricey. Unfortunately the premium price tag comes from the limited availability coupled with the fact you are buying 'collectors packaging'. A lot of Zavvi's steelbooks do end up getting reduced in price (some as low as £8) during flash sales etc, however the limited print run and ultra limited print run editions tend to go quickly (some even selling out in a matter of hours - e.g. Army of Darkness) so it is a gamble.

I'm not really a steelbook 'collector' as such, but if there's a decent film of decent quality being released in a steel with some nice artwork then I'll tend to jump on it straight away so as not to miss out (if I can justify the price tag). I've also been quite lucky so far in that the ones I have bought haven't decreased much (if at all) in price.

I think Michael B hinted at a Q4 release for this, as apparently it is being worked on at present.

Actually good point on the limited nature of them , i can see the price reasons behind that. I myself do have a few steelbooks , but just in some cases i do see it is an excuse to make more money out of an already Blu ray released title.

Oh, most definitely. Zavvi have seen an opportunity and grabbed it. At first a lot of these exclusive steelbooks had largish print runs, but now they seem to be concentrating mainly on limited or ultra limited runs, the prices are creeping up and the steels are selling out a lot quicker. I'd be very interested in seeing Zavvi's year on year profits for the last 3 or 4 years.

Fair enough to them! If it works then its a genius policy. It would be interesting to see their profits.. especially after the whole collapse of their physical store business , as it seems they have been quite successful. Plus , In general ..i do find them to have good stock and prices.
