Just tried Mask Of Satan. Select Italian Audio with subs on, and it definitely plays it with SDH subs. You really shouldn't have to fiddle about with selecting the correct subs via remote.

But you do have a second set of SFX-free subtitles on there?

Thanks for confirming that Steven

I Found it !
I toggled the subtitles in my Blu Ray player options screen.
That's better. I never thought to do that before because I assumed that there was only one subtitle option. The option from the main menu.

Now we all know. Like we said, there is nothing anywhere to say that this is available and it is not on the main menu screen.

Out of curiosity, is the menu that you're looking at one of the old-fashioned types with thick white borders and block-caps text?

Yeah, it's the old style Arrow menu.

I own scream's TCM2 and Arrows. I think its one of those cases where if you like the film (so this doesn't apply to those who don't) that its worth it. For the SF released I wasn't overly bothered by a fair portion of the bonus features as a lot of it had repetition so it felt a little like groundhog day going through some of it. The main reason for screams is that they offer a better looking transfer. However I couldn't part with Arrows due to the fact its got Hooper's first film Eggshells, an early short and some interesting additional material on his early career. Again, for those who could give less of a shit then I'd usually point people towards screams, but its one of those instances where I'm loathe to part with either.

As I said, if this and the post office scene were supposed to be subtitled, they would've been burnt in. It's the fact that Arrow have decided in their infinite wisdom, that they should subtitle something the filmmakers never intended to be subtitled, that's annoying.
It's a lot worse on BFI's Blu-ray of L'immortelle because they subtitled the Turkish dialogue which we're not meant to understand, just like the French protagonist doesn't understand it. They completely destroyed the mystery!

The upcoming release of 'The Ghoul' has been passed 15 uncut for strong language and drug misuse
