Well Arrow scanned the negative at 2K (I think!) for their release, so I think they'd have to use the new 4K master. Of course, they have the luxury of sitting back and watching the feedback to BU's release, so they'll likely do some independent tinkering if need be.

And this is all assuming they still have to rights to it!

Scans for a 2K finish are typically carried out at 3K, and ditto 4K/6K. This is to compensate in advance for any loss of resolution through reframing, image stabilising, etc.

That's interesting... I'm looking forward to seeing how this all plays out.

But clearly, this means the hypothetical Arrow ZFE 2019 release will be a 6K Blu-ray that no one will be able to watch for several years, and will come in a limited "Pop-up Mediabook" edition that literally splinters the eye of anyone who gets too close when opening it.

The kids are gonna love it.

The way I understand it Arrow would have the rights to that restoration.

Arrow permanently have the rights to their own restoration, but they also need the rights to the film in order to do anything with it.

A Limited edition set of Shock like COTLD would be outstanding.

apparently Arrow's mystery title at schlock-o-thon was Larraz's Edge of the Axe
