Release dates: 24/25 June

"In the post-war years, the proliferation of transnational European co-productions gave rise to a cross-pollination of genres, with the same films sold in different markets as belonging to different movements. Among these, Riccardo Freda (I vampiri, The Horrible Dr. Hichock)’s Double Face was marketed in West Germany as an Edgar Wallace ‘krimi’, while in Italy it was sold as a giallo in the tradition of Mario Bava’s Blood and Black Lace, combining elements from both genres for a unique and unforgettable viewing experience.

When wealthy businessman John Alexander (the legendary Klaus Kinski, giving an atypically restrained performance)’s unfaithful wife Helen (Margaret Lee, Circus of Fear) dies in a car crash, it initially looks like a freak accident. However, the plot thickens when evidence arises suggesting that the car was tampered with prior to the crash. And John’s entire perception of reality is thrown into doubt when he discovers a recently-shot pornographic movie which appears to feature Helen – suggesting that she is in fact alive and playing an elaborate mind game on him…

Psychological, psychedelic, and at times just plain psychotic, Double Face stands as one of the most engaging and enjoyable films in Freda’s lengthy and diverse career – a densely-plotted, visually-stunning giallo that evokes much of the same ambience of paranoia and decadence as such classics of the genre as One on Top of the Other and A Lizard in a Woman’s Skin.

I'm really looking forward to this one. I remember that many years ago the French version of the film received a grey market release but I was never able to get hold of it for a decent price. The only thing that slightly concerns me is the fact that the version on the Blu-ray is going to be the original Italian version, which will presumably mean that the additional nude scenes present in the French version will not be present. In an ideal world the Blu-ray would also contain the French cut of the film or, failing that, the additional takes/scenes from the French version as extras.

I used to have a grey-market DVD of Double Face.

A good month from Arrow overall. I'm in for them all eventually except Lords of Chaos.

The only one for me too! More obscure giallo is always good!

I'm pretty sure I have Def Con 4 and also sure it was in a '4 in 1' case, interesting to see what Arrow make of it.

The 1982 SENDER movie is far superior to the similarly titled 1998 one with Madsen. Not seen it in years so a definite addition to the collection.

Possibly an April Fools joke, but the last few they've announced like this turned out to be true so take this with a pinch of salt

*** SURPRISE SLASHER ANNOUNCEMENT!!! ***
Prepare to stare in wide-mouthed disbelief! As previously teased by Arrow Video’s Ewan Cant on slasher podcast The Hysteria Continues, we are extremely excited to reveal that we will be giving the hugely underrated slice-and-dicer THE PREY its due later this year with a brand new, extras-laden 2-disc Blu-ray edition - including both the Original US Theatrical Cut, and the much-celebrated extended “Gypsy Cut” coveted by hardened horror fans everywhere!!! And if that wasn’t enough Prey-related goodness for you, we’ll be unveiling our new restoration of the film (from the original, long-lost camera negative, no less) at this year’s Texas Frightmare Weekend, where stars Lori Lethin, Carel Struycken and Jackson Bostwick will be on hand to answer all of your Prey-related questions. Further details to follow soon, you happy campers - in the meantime, check out the brand new artwork especially commissioned for the limited edition slip!
